I'm not buying any makeup/skincare/nail polish in 2024, I truly don't need a single thing. For too long I got hung up on finding "better replacements" for things I already love, what... why? What's the point? I'm not doing that anymore. Will that new release that looks like a color dupe of my favorite product perform better and will I love it even more than what I have? Maybe. But I just don't care anymore to find out.
I love this comment and your mentality! I must admit, I'm not there yet. I still go on "hunts" for the best product in each category. That being said, it's becoming less and less important to me and your comment serves as inspiration to me for sure!
Oh my gosh I love this so much. I have never heard anyone say they don't particularly want or need their makeup to last all day. For some reason, I just breathed a sigh of relief over the fact that I can't get mine to last all day, and like you, I'm now wondering if that's even necessary. I work from home for goodness sake! Anyway, over the years I have really pared down my makeup routine, and I'm never going back. Great content as always!
Yes!!! I found my people. So funny you mention this, I was thinking to myself the other day "am I just not that picky about longevity? why don't I notice makeup settling into wrinkles? do I just look terrible each and every day and I just don't see it?" When you watch beauty youtubers I think reality gets distorted and we start believing that we need a million products and we should all care that we look freshly applied at the end of the day.
I started wanting it to last all day due to long events where photographs were being taken and my "barely there" makeup was barely existing by the time 7 hours rolled by. But now i have a series of products for those events, that happen 5 times a year. What did i do without these things before? What did people do? I'm going to take a leaf from Wayne Goss' book and just touch up my face. The professionals all say it, make up doesn't last all day, blot and powder to refresh, that's how life was. So these primers, sprays etc things may just be extra products (that work sometimes) but really aren't needed...
You are SUCH a breath of fresh air. I'm loving your channel! I'm dedicated to downsizing and not purchasing new makeup/clothing this year, your channel is very inspirational for me.
I've been minimizing my collection through the years as well, and are now down to my bare minerals mineral powder fondation and a brow pencil. I also curl my lashes. The mascara and a red lip pencil was the last to go before the new year. I'm like you and trying to embrace my natural appearance and now I just don't think I look good in to much makeup. Love the minimalist content, keep up the good work! 😊😍
Eye primer, i bought an expensive popular line, i used it once, it degraded quickly (unlike how we think makeup doesn't expire because they keep working) so when i was playing in my makeup i got contact dermatitis. Lesson learnt. I want to reduce some of my makeup too, but sunken cost fallacy is making me feel like i owe them something... Whereas if someone were to burgle my house i wouldn't be mad if they took these items. My makeup collection is kind of minimal though, i try not to stress about it and just play in the stuff id never wear outside... And Sometimes i discover, that i would indeed wear it outside.
Nice! You can do it! For a couple of years now I only use mascara, and a blush powder, and lip gloss. That’s all. Love it, and it’s so nice and minimal. ❤ I also quit nail polish over a year ago. My nails looks so good natural, and I wish I had quit sooner. I also quit dying my hair. Loving my natural look.
Hanna, I'm thinking like you! I don't want to spend any more money on makeup! I also love makeup but I need to restrain myself or else I'll end up using up all the little money I have left just on this!Since I don't work with makeup, I don't wear that much makeup...so I really don't need to buy anything else. I need to hold back and only do what I need. This year I want to invest more in taking care of my skin, like good sunscreens! It's definitely worth it! Hugs from 🇧🇷
I've been using less makeup for several months now, and I don't see myself going back. I'm saving time, money, and I even look a little younger. I do still want a small eye palette (maybe a quad?), because my eyelids crease like crazy. If I don't wear eye shadow, I get these greasy creases many times a day. Putting face products there like blush make it worse. The only thing that stops it is eye shadow and primer. Unfortunately, the only eye primer that has ever stopped my creasing entirely was discontinued this year...but I've found an ok replacement.
I think this comment is such a good example of my different people need different products! Love that you are becoming more minimal in general though :) awesome work
Great video Hanna! I really enjoyed this video about how you will approach makeup this 2024. This year I plan to just buy a red lipstick and then only replace as things finish, otherwise I do not want to buy nothings else. I understand as you mention it can be difficult because makeup sometimes is so cute, but I really will avoid the Sephora trips unless I need to replace something. I would be cool if you keep us updated of this journey 🥰🥰🥰🥰 sending you a big hug 🤗🤗🤗🤗
Hey hanna , Im like you don’t use foundation and just use powder so I’ll suggest hourglass AMBIENT LIGHTING FINISHING POWDER IN DIFFUSED LIGHT its so pretty make your face look like filter ❤
We had fewer products to buy on the markets years ago and we did just fine. The beauty industry makes us believe we need so much stuff when what is more important is a healthy skin well hydrated.
I removed all the stuff I've recently bought within 5 years to see how u used to do my makeup and i was floored lmao. Foundation Powder Blush Brow Eyeliner Mascara Shimmery nude eye shadow Lip tint Nude liner Nude lip I somehow survived but now i "have to have" primers, setting sprays, bronzers, highlighters, multiple eyeshadows, concealers, , gloss, several lipsticks, I like some of these stuff though, i also mostly own 1 each not multiples.. But it makes me think, that i was ok with the minimal stuff too. At least i can say i don't have a contour.
Thanks so much for sharing this with us! Always enjoy your content! I would love to see a video showing the different ways you use your bronzer and blush instead of eyeshadow! Also, would love to see an updated Minimalist Makeup Collections once you’ve made your new choices for 2024! Thanks for being so awesome!
I loved the video! I myself have really worked on getting my makeup collection down to a more manageable size. I still have what most would consider too much, but it’s actually close to my ideal collection. Oh and I also have the makeup eraser towels and they fully remove my water proof makeup, just so you know ☺️
I’m not buying any eyeshadow palette I just don’t use them anymore to justify buying them I started using colorful eyeliners I like them better I’m also not buying anything that I don’t need replaced because I’m not trying to waste anything
Could you do one on updated jewelry? And how you keep from buying new? Do you ever go for chunkier thicker statement piece? Or stick to small and dainty?

Great list! I find it so hard to resist the pretty things, but when I buy them I often don't use them. What a waste!

Cover the holes in your setting powder except for 1 or 2. I'm less annoyed by loose powders now😅
inventive! :)

I absolutely will! I don't prefer anything too chunky. I would say most people would consider all my jewelry dainty and minimal looking
LOVE the dark hair!! How are you liking it?
Also, the NARS translusent powder is so good! And they sell them in minis which makes storing so nice! It lasts forever and is truly clear
I honestly think I look prettier blonde but I'm trying to let that go and love and embrace my natural hair! :)
