    Sony the audio is so much worse than usual, I was trying out a mic along with a new light that had a rather loud fan the mic picked up :( I'll fix it for the next video

    Nice review! 👏🏻 And the photos you had taken with that lens was so stunning! 😱

    Very good review for this lens, one of the best on CZcams so far. Glad i already did the purchase, i am waiting for the a6600 to get here on monday. Cant wait to try it out. More videos like this pls. And if you can, do a review for the other new lens zoom 70-350g. I find your videos very pleasing and informative to watch. You have another subscriber.. :)

      Thank you very much! You'll have a blast using this lens with the 6600. If I can get my hands on one I will!

    Fantastic video, your pictures did a great job of showcasing the lens and it’s image quality, something that’s been lacking from other reviews. You should be really proud of yourself, I still don’t have the dough to add this to my kit, but at least now I’m certain I want it! Lol!

      Many thanks! I feel the same way about a few lenses right now too 😅

    Overall, I’d say F4 (that’s f2.8 in FF equiv) is rather dark, you might have issues while shooting after sunset and the bokeh is also so so compared say to Sigma 1.4 trio. But great for events where you have to move a lot and sometimes don’t have enough distance between you and your subject to use 35mm or 55mm. Also, pretty nice option for videos on 6500-6600 bodies (and FX30!), again, ability to go from wide to telephoto is very handy

      very good points, I hope to see sony continue to release cameras like the FX30 to make lens like these in the G line have more compelling bodies to use them with

    A crisp detailed review this lens I would say👍 btw are the images showing here edited or straight out of camera?

    • @ShaneBethlehem
      @ShaneBethlehem  Před 3 lety +1

      Thank you :) most are edited as i shoot in RAW often in the neutral profile, but at around 5:00 i shot a few unedited images in the neutral/flat profile in camera

      @@ShaneBethlehem ok thanks for the info.. I think I really like this lens. I'm a beginner and I wanna grow in photography and I have Sony a6400. And I wanna take professional quality images. I know this lens is not cheap 😄 but don't wanna regret after buying. I also want those sigma trios but I don't wanna change lenses frequently. So I think this lens would be good. So what's your suggestions? Thanks again

    • @ShaneBethlehem
      @ShaneBethlehem  Před 3 lety

      The difficult choice because you're very correct in wanting to get high quality glass to grow with but this lens is also tethered to being with a crop sensor camera, and the bigger camera upgrade that most people on a Sony system will make is to move to a full-frame camera down the road so this one's a little bit of a difficult choice. You can't go wrong and it's going to be a fantastic lens that will last you a very long time it just will tie you to staying with a aps-c sized sensor camera as well

      @@ShaneBethlehem yeah your perspective is true. Meanwhile there is an upcoming Tamron 17 - 70 mm f/2.8 lens in Jan 2021. Specs wise it's really tempting. I think that would be nice too as they are also sony APS C based and the price would be very less comparatively. For the time being I'm eyeing on that 😄

    • @ShaneBethlehem

      I think that is an excellent idea, that lens looks like it's going to be a fantastic option, I wish it was announced before I made this video because really I think that lens is going to be a way better choice for a lot of people

  • @victor.ivanov
    @victor.ivanov Před rokem

    Hm, what’s point comparing with Tammy, it’s focal distances on APS-C will 42-113, basically a telephoto zoom

    • @ShaneBethlehem
      @ShaneBethlehem  Před rokem

      at the time of making the video it was the most popular lens on e-mount so it was an easy point of reference, you are very correct the focal ranges minimally overlap, but there were not many lenses at the time of the video to compare it to either

    Hi, great video thanks!
    Do you think it would make sense to use this lens on a a6000 body ? I am wondering if the older body can restrict the performance of this beast.

    • @msaintmac
      @msaintmac Před 3 lety

      Same here

    • @ShaneBethlehem
      @ShaneBethlehem  Před 3 lety +1

      The biggest restricting factor would be in terms of autofocus, on the hardware side of things and on the software side of things the newer cameras from Sony have better autofocus which will be a noticeable difference, however the image quality is still gonna be fantastic and realistically the A6000 will be able to utilize this lens’ AF very well, but just not ‘max’ it out

      @@ShaneBethlehem thanks for your reply. I tried using my old 18-55 with my A6000 the other day because I hate the powerzoom of the 16-50 and the autofocus was terrible compared to my 35/1.8. So I 'm hoping that with the 16-55, the AF could be at least as good as on the 35/1.8

  • @Jgheiler

    Have you used the sigma 18-50mm?

    Hi Shane, you forgot to include the 18105 G lens.

    • @ShaneBethlehem
      @ShaneBethlehem  Před 3 lety

      That is a great lens but I didn't include it as it is overall quite a different class, with a different min aperture, focal range and set of features. 100% an awesome option and very worth considering!

  • @victor.ivanov
    @victor.ivanov Před rokem

    Also, the lens will creep while walking longer distances, say 15 minutes

    • @ShaneBethlehem
      @ShaneBethlehem  Před rokem

      I did not experience this with the lens, perhaps their quality control is poor which is disappointing to hear

  • @victor.ivanov
    @victor.ivanov Před rokem

    It’s not 24-70, it’s 24-83 FF equiv.

    • @ShaneBethlehem
      @ShaneBethlehem  Před rokem

      you are correct, I said it was similar to 24-70, not that is was equivalent
