    COGIC has always seemed dry to me

  • @BUTNOWFELLOWSHIP
    @BUTNOWFELLOWSHIP Před 9 lety +2

    A lot of emotion and personal testimony but no spiritual understanding as usual.
    Why would God call bishop mason to start a church (denomination or organization which is what the COGIC is), when he started a church with the apostle Paul called the body of Christ? God is not into organizations and denominations, but he's into his church, which is the body of Christ. Which is a living organism not a dead organization.
    And also, Ephesians 3:20-21 has a context. Read Ephesians 3:1-10 to understand why Paul said what he said in Ephesians 3:20-21. Preaching is not taking one verse and giving a commentary on that verse and picking one word out of the verse and making people feel good emotionally, but the holy ghost teaches by comparing spiritual with spiritual, scripture with scripture (1 corinthians 2:13).
    He never gave the spiritual context of Ephesians 3:20, just went straight into self and personal testimony.
    He quoted this verse:
    Romans 16:25
    Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
    but he stopped in the beginning once he got to the word he wanted to use which was stablish (that he used out of context). Study out romans 16:25 and compare it with acts 3:19-21 and notice the difference in scriptures. Because the Holy Ghost teaches by comparing spiritual with spiritual.
    I pray that these people come into the knowledge of the truth. Grace and peace!

      We know your spiritual, and your type. To spiritual for organization. To far into the third Heavens to go to a church that chooses to sit under a structure promoting order and authority. We get it. The C.O.G.I.C. was establish in 1907 as an organization accomplishing licensing and credentials for ministry and accountability for local churches (order and discipline). Licensing and credentials are important because of the legal situation in the 20th and 21st century United States. The basics and structure of church polity is not discussed in depth in scripture, because God knew that though the gospel, his divine order, and his word does not change... legal requirements and situations do. No C.O.G.I.C., P.A.W., P.C.A.F., and all these other orgs do not necessarily match and embody the church in the time of Apostles in organization and structure. However, the doctrine of Christ is what is important. The needs of the church at large differ from that of that time. Men have done their best to organize the faith and hold leadership accountable using Biblical principles as their basis. The COGIC is not perfect, but the body of Christ is...

    • @BUTNOWFELLOWSHIP
      @BUTNOWFELLOWSHIP Před 9 lety

      ***** You spoke about the structure of the church and of different denominations, and then you said the doctrine of Christ is what is important. I totally agree with that statement. You also said at the very end that the COGIC is not perfect, but the body of Christ is. I also wholeheartedly agree with this statement. However the COGIC was established in 1907 based upon the doctrine that the church the body of Christ started in Acts 2 at the day of Pentecost. The problem with this is that the church the body of Christ started with the Apostle Paul in Acts 9. The Body of Christ is a term used in scripture only by the Apostle Paul. He was to be the pattern of the Body of Christ.
      1 Timothy 1:15-16
      15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
      16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
      Notice Paul says in him first Jesus was going shew forth all longsuffering. Also the day of Pentecost was a Jewish Festival and the men who were there at the day of Pentecost were Jews not Gentiles (the only gentiles who were there were proselytes, which means they accepted judaism and the law). When Peter spoke he spoke to Israel not Gentiles....
      Acts 2:14
      But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of JUDAEA, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:
      Acts 2:22
      Ye men of ISRAEL, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:
      Acts 2:36
      Therefore let all the house of ISRAEL know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
      Also note that what happened at the day of pentecost was prophesied about in the book of Joel as Peter stated...
      Acts 2:16-18
      16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
      17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
      18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
      This is what peter was quoting....
      Joel 2:28-29
      28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
      29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.
      So you see Acts 2, when the day of Pentecost had fully come, it was a fulfillment of prophecy to the nation of Israel. What you must understand is that God had a plan and purpose for the nation of Israel that you seen prophesied about and preached since the world began (Dispensation of the law, Genesis through Acts 9).....
      Acts 3:20-21
      20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
      21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the WORLD BEGAN.
      But notice God had a special plan and purpose for the Body of Christ through the Apostle Paul (Dispensation of Grace) that was kept secret since then world began in which Paul was to be first and also a pattern for everyone thereafter......
      Romans 16:25
      Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept SECRET SINCE THE WORLD BEGAN.
      So understand when you talk about doctrine (which I agree that is what its all about), you have to see there was a doctrine/gospel to the nation of Israel (The circumcision), which was the law, and then there was a doctrine/gospel to the Body of Christ (The uncircumcision), which is called grace.
      Galatians 2:6-9
      6 But of these who seemed to be somewhat, (whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter to me: God accepteth no man's person:) for they who seemed to be somewhat in conference added NOTHING to me:
      7 But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter;
      8 (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)
      9 And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.
      Notice that God gave Paul a gospel to the uncircumcision and Peter a gospel to the circumcision and they agreed that they would preach to the people who God sent them to. So if you are apart of the body of Christ, then your doctrine is not what Peter, James, and John taught in their epistles, which is to the circumcision (Israel), but that which Paul teaches which is to the uncircumcision (the body of Christ).
      And the doctrine of the body of Christ which is Grace, was kept secret since the world began and not made known unto any other age, but it was only dispensed by God and given to Paul.
      Ephesians 3:1-5
      For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you GENTILES,
      2 If ye have heard of the DISPENSATION of the GRACE OF GOD which is given ME to you-ward:
      3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the MYSTERY; (as I wrote afore in few words,
      4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)
      5 Which in other ages was NOT MADE KNOWN UNTO THE SONS OF MEN, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;
      So you are very right sir, doctrine is the key thing, but what doctrine are you following is the question. The COGIC is following a doctrine that was given to ISRAEL not the body of Christ. One more thing before I finish. The COGIC has this Holy Convocation every year. Now I wonder where they get that from, because Paul who is the Apostle of the Gentiles........
      Romans 11:13
      For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:
      .......never says anything about a holy convocation. As a matter of fact this is what paul says about observing days:
      Colossians 2:16-17
      16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
      17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
      So now lets see where the Holy Convocation came from in scripture.
      Leviticus 23:1-8
      1 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
      2 Speak unto the CHILDREN OF ISRAEL (not Gentiles), and say unto them, Concerning the feasts (the 7 feasts days of the Lord for ISRAEL are as follows: Passover, Unleavened Bread, Firstfruits, Day of PENTECOST, Trumpets, Day of Atonement, and Tabernacles) of the Lord, which ye shall proclaim to be HOLY CONVOCATIONS, even these are my feasts.
      3 Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an HOLY CONVOCATION; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings.
      4 These are the feasts of the Lord, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons.
      5 In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the Lord's passover.
      6 And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the Lord: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.
      7 In the first day ye shall have an HOLY CONVOCATION: ye shall do no servile work therein.
      8 But ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord seven days: in the seventh day is an HOLY CONVOCATION: ye shall do no servile work therein.
      You can continue to read throughout that Chapter of Leviticus to learn more about ISRAELS feast days. So the COGIC that was founded in 1907 was founded upon ISRAELS Doctrine, hence the Holy Convocation that they have every year, tithing (which was never money) that they command, Holding to the body of Christ being started in Acts 2 at the day of Pentecost. Everything about the COGIC reflects ISRAELS doctrine and thus they are in the wrong dispensation (as far as DOCTRINE) when it comes to the righteousness of God. God is not dealing with Israel as a nation although he will in the future....
      Romans 11:25-27
      25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
      26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
      27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
      ... Understand that God will finish his plan and purpose with the Nation of Israel when the fulness of the Gentiles be come in (After this dispensation of Grace is over at the rapture). And also understand that Gentiles and the body of Christ is not apart of any Covenant:
      Ephesians 2:11-12
      11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past GENTILES in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
      12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
      When studying your bible please study your bible dispensationally so you can know what God is doing today.
      2 Timothy 2:15
      Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, RIGHTLY DIVIDING THE WORD OF TRUTH.
      To rightly divide the word of truth, you must study it Gods way and that is dispensationally. You need to ask yourself 3 questions when studying Gods word:
      1. Who wrote the book
      2. Who was he writing to (ie Israel, Gentiles)
      3. What dispensation was he writing (Law, Grace)
      If you do this you won't make the mistake of putting yourself into Acts 2 which is a fulfillment of prophecy to and for the NATION of ISRAEL, and putting yourself back under the law by having Holy Convocations, as the COGIC has done for so many years.
      I say this in love, and hope that you would take the time to study it out to see whether these things agree with scripture.
      Acts 17:11
      These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
      1 Corinthians 2:14
      But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
      John 13:20
      Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.
      Jesus sent Paul with the Gospel of Grace to us Gentiles today in the Body of Christ....
      Acts 22:21
      And he said unto me, Depart: for I will send thee far hence unto the Gentiles.
      Acts 20:24
      But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
      Acts 26:17
      Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee,
      So therefore Paul can make this statement (that most denominations that you mentioned earlier don't agree with or abide by)....
      1 Corinthians 14:37
      If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you (Romans-Philemon) are the commandments of the Lord.
      Grace and Peace!

      BUT NOW FELLOWSHIP I am confused? What wrong with COGIC? Having an organization is a problem? Again I don't get you beef here? In my opinion, COGIC under the Leadership of Bishop Charles Blake is a fine Christian organization, nothing more and nothing less. Why do we always have to over spiritualize things? I am not COGIC but I am not a hater. Organized Christianity is fine. There is so much more to discuss of importance than this, isn't there?

    • @BUTNOWFELLOWSHIP
      @BUTNOWFELLOWSHIP Před 9 lety

      Whats more important to discuss than Doctrine (which is what I laid out in my earlier response)?
      Your opinion doesn't matter. I've given scripture. What does God say about COGIC or any other religious organization that have gone about to establish their own righteousness?
      Romans 10:2-3
      2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.
      3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
      Has nothing to do with hating, but everything to do with contending for the faith as Paul instructs us to do.

    • @cgcade1
      @cgcade1 Před 9 lety +1

      While my opinion may not matter in the grand scheme of things, discussing doctrine in this forum seems futile, in my opinion as it is may not change anything. Contending for the faith is important and your point of view may be correct, but the manner in which you are criticizing comes across as hating and judgmental...from my observation. Have you taken these matters up with the COGIC Bishops? If not, that may be a more productive avenue to pursue. If you have, and they are not willing to change their agenda then let it be. If you feel this is productive then you have the right to express your position just as the Denominations have their right to exist. I conclude that as we all submit ourselves unto the righteousness of God He and He alone brings revelation knowledge and growth. As I have learned, submission is a continual process. None of us have fully arrived. St. Paul declared, Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:12-14. I will keep you in prayer. Pray for me, as I contend for the faith. Amen? Amen.
