Oh, and rear grip is best on these IMO. If I am struggling with my grip on my match darts, I throw a set of these for a few minutes as it sets my grip distances. If you know what I mean lol
@@DartsReviewChannel I bought them from Harrow Leisure Centre sports shop, with money I had won playing cards ( 3 card brag) with my older brothers and sisters. I was only 12 😂
I love to browse through old darts catalogs. Some stuff would still stand up to any comparison today, other stuff you have to keep reminding yourself was modern and exciting for anyone who had "the disease" even back then. A big shout out to Ian for giving us all this blissful fifteen minutes, but especially for having extra replica flights made - that's real dedication!
Yeah they had a lot of interesting ideas back in the early days, still do but not as much is surprising now, just more a case of tweaking what has been done before. :)
I remember reading Darts World as a kid in the 80s looking at the adverts for Frank Johnson's Sports, Gerrys of Wimbledon and Tommys Darts International lusting over a set of Cliff Lazarenko Unicorns I could never afford and sending off the occasional postal order for ten sets of Poly Royal Emblem and Harrows Hurricane stems.
@@DartsReviewChannel Talking of shopping all things darts, what do you make of these... winmau.com/blade-6-force-power-band-8128 Can't wait to see what you make of these, they seem like the snake oil of darts as they offer little info on the product. I'd expect some links to some research to back this up on their page...nothing!
Tbh, these ones look sooo chunky I´m wondering if three of ´em even fit into the T20 segment . Almost brass dart dimensions. Interesting peek into dart history nonetheless. What a difference compared to the recent modern range of available darts...
Very good Darren, I have three set you maybe interested in set of 1979/80 John lowes in a blue with grey interior folding plastic box/slip. A set like them zippy ones but with five rings cut in them. Last one are 6mm wide by 49ish mm long with two sets of ring n 11grooves on them lovely dart that all still get used.
Thanks Dave! I know the Lowes you mean, got a few of those old boxes, think I have some old Lowes somewhere too. Not sure what the other two are you mention though. If you can send a pic of them I will check em out, cheers! :)
Yeah they look a lot like the dum dum I think I still have a couple of sets of those came in a little plastic case I think one was green and one was black they were fun.... I think this vintage dart segment is pretty cool hope to see another one pretty soon. 👍
Hi Darren , hope your good. Well god I remember seeing a guy playing with these. Think once you play around with stem/flight combos , they'd go ok As usual, good vid , cheers 👍🎯🎯👍
Yeah a similar style to the Dum Dums, I think Unicorn are one of the few brands that have not been afraid to do some really short barrels over the years :)
Great review Darren. They are a favourite of mine, and my first set of darts. I seem to remember paying about £10.50 way back 😂

Thanks Ian! You should have bought them from Frank Johnson darts, would have saved you 25p thats like £1.23 in todays money lol! :P

Yeah it would be hard with the short points on them but I did manage to get 2 in afterwards, not sure I would ever get 3 in though :)

Gteat to see vintage darts 👍
👍😊
Grouping the barrels against each other on the board made me wince!
LOL! :)
It didn't take you long to start hitting treble 20. you did well with them.
Had a few, might have had more with some different stems and flights, was probably due to all the weight being on my grip making it well balanced :)

Thanks James, yeah its a fun dart and I am sure its possible to get used to them with the right set up :)
I came back here since the new Unicorn 2024 launch that they added the Zippy Tungsten to the heritage range. Lol
LOL must be my review that influenced them :)
Hi I have these in 23 & 25 grams I am trying to get copy flights can you help?
No idea, Red Dragon make flights and I think Darts Corner do too.
Los Alamos comes to mind ! .... Boom
😃
You used his original stems even though he sent extra 🤣
You could have got a Robin Hood and destroyed them lol
Yeah he said he had plenty of them, at least thats what I thought he meant lol It was just the flights he did not want me to use I hope :)
Are these darts good for rear grippers 😂😆
LOL
Luke Humphrey darts 😂😂😂
:)
Nice remind me of a set of unicorn t95 dum dums I have . Keep up the vintage reviews.
