Good Carnival food choices, you forget Pelau and fish broth.
A good pigeon peas pelau, Yum Yum 😋
Most Trinbagonians eat Pelau at least once a month. Some even eat it every week! At Carnival a range of pelaus (which vary by shade and texture) are seen on the plates of masqueraders and spectators alike. Those who forgo Carnival for the beach and various church camps also cook it. It is a delicious one pot that feeds plenty. So to exclude it is nothing less than unpatriotic .

Umm...I grew up on Pelau, how could you not have Pelau as a must try dish.
Pelau and carnival go together. It is a one pot meal that is easy to cook and carry. Pelau for a beach lime as well. Not including it on the list is puzzling.

Everything yall mentioned is great- But Shark and Bake is really unique to Trinidad- I would choose that as my favorite thing on the list... I am an American but my wife is Trini. Ive been to a lot of places, but the food in Trinidad is the best I have ever had, Full stop!!!!

Pelau before gyro
A gyro is almost 50.00 for one sandwich! I can make a whole pot of pelau with $50. More pigeon peas than chicken, but it will feed more than 1.

I'm a hick from East Texas and I love gardening and growing all those Caribbean varieties of peppers and Peppa sauce and hot sauces and I've read so much TnT restaurants and menus on Google maps and watched enough food travel shows there its bad I understand every word they're saying now. They wouldn't hardly understand me but I want to go down there so bad and just eat and drink juices and chill on the beach and fish.
Edit: naw I'd eat it all ! Pep pep peppy Peppa on everything! And sauce that BBQ down!

Pelau is a pilaf not a risotto. A pilaf is never wet, and the grains never clump together.
