- Metalsmith Tutorial-GRS Bench Pin Install (One Method) A complaint about included Hardware. When upgrading to another bench pin system here is one option. The GRS bench pin and ball vice holder along with the basic GRS bench mounting plate.

I love the screw- chnage lesson, I need to change my attachment screws too, I've actually had 2 of them break, I hope GRS is listening. Thanks, Chris, aloha! (and don't forget, there's a 12-step program for GRS addicts!!)

I had gotten an actual jewelers bench (micro tools had an all hardwood one for a reasonable price) and bought the Grs mounting plate-but when I saw how high above the bench top it would rest, (and I didn’t have a router, or the experience to use one) I returned it.
Same problem pissed right off for the reputation and cost ! Should be no slop ???
Chris-what size screws did you upgrade to?
I went with a larger wood screw about an inch long. The threads on a wood screw are more durable for this application and Sheetrock screws. Make sure to pre-drill a small undersized hole to stop splitting that may occur with longer screws
So what’s exactly is the diffference between this shelf and the other square “large block shelf”, they have the same dimensions but almost twice the price

The large block shelf comes with the adjustable mounting bracket.
