The hi hats sound like they’ve been stretched, meaning they’re really low quality. The soul samples have also obviously been massively stretched, how hard is it to keep to a similar bpm as the original sample? If anyone but Cole put this out it would be a 5/10 record.

He makes mediocre albums (which you’ll disagree with because he’s your boy) but he has as much and/or more talent than every other MC listed above. He needs competition to bring out his god flow. I was so hype for this but those beats were trash and what orhers call “confidence” is what I call bling era rap. It’s not interesting unless you only listen to Cole.

@@bakhtiyarguseinov9402 I think that’s the problem with a lot of people nowadays when listening to music. I mean I’m quick to point out what I don’t like in an album, and if I don’t like it I’ll straight up say it. But I am able to factor in everything and note things that I did like on the album despite disliking most of it. People are too quick to judge when they should let it marinate.
While I wouldn’t say The Off-Season is a 10/10 for me personally, I enjoy the hell out of this album. I just think interlude and the climb back really dampen this album. But overall I’ll still bump all of it

From someone who has listened to Cole for years, the thing that stands out most to me is his confidence and hunger on the album.
From a purely rapping perspective, I believe this is some of the best work we have ever seen from Cole. Lyrically he’s brilliant and he uses flows and beats that we’ve never really seen from him before.
The one thing that I do wish he did better was making a more cohesive overall project.
Kind of like a classic Kendrick album where songs build off of each other and tell an overall story and contribute to the main message of the album. This album kind of feels at times like Cole is rapping on each song like it’s a single and it wouldn’t really matter what order you played the songs in.
With that being said though, overall I loved the album and lyrically I think it’s some of Cole’s best work! I’m excited to see how it ages too
