Ironic that when Sheldon takes his revenge it backfires horribly because the president of the university was accidentally targeted as well yet Kripke didn't get into trouble over this as Sheldon was representing the University on a public forum and so the embarrassment would have hurt the university as a whole, I feel like that is way worse.

It wasn’t a major conference. Also everyone at the university probably disliked Sheldon.
Realistically, both Sheldon and Leonard would have been fired and Raj would have been sent back to India
On another note, for a room that size, the concentration of helium needed to make Sheldon talk like that would have been so high it would have caused him to pass out or even kill him. For that action, Kripke would have not only been fired, he could have charged with attempted murder.

Inhalation of helium could cause death by asphyxiation. As far as I know, it would take a large amount in a room to have the effect of altering Sheldon's voice in this manner! I know of someone who inhaled helium before giving a speech at someones wedding
True Indian of course inhaling it is deadly. Helium is helium which is deadly if inhaled. It is six times lighter than air and causes it to twist your vocal chords and shake the, which causes the squeaky voice.

If you changed it to 21% oxygen and 78% helium, you'd talk like a chipmunk but be fine medically.)

I'm willing to bet that Kripke faced no repercussions or at best a slap on the wrist from the higher ups at the University for this prank compared to what Sheldon, Leonard & Raj probably got for Sheldon's retaliation prank (which Raj & Leonard were involved to a degree) later on in the episode.
Well, at least they didn't get fired, but I imagine Leonard, Sheldon & Raj faced some form of disciplinary action.
Reality would have Kripke fired the next day for embarrassing the University like that.

Helium is a basic gag. I’m more devious and i use its opposite.
I prefer to use sulfurhexafluoride: whereas Helium makes your voice raise, this makes anyone sound like James Earl Jones.
