  • Hi there, in this video, i will share with you how you can use Meshmixer software to design a dental implant surgical guide. I have done other steps where i import the stl file, add a pontic and cylinder to use as a drill and transformed both objects to fit the edentulous space. I also selected the area where i wanted to fit the surgical guide. Below is a list of some products i use.

    That is a good way to do them but how do you know where to put the implant. I do not see CBCT and implant planning ?

      Thanks a lot for the comment, its important to know that this is a model based guide and u will need to combine xray and model data so that u can avoid important anatomical structures. That said, u will notice even with other softwares that the guide is made on an accurate model merged with xrays.

    Dr, how do you deal with undercuts when placing your surgical guide?

    • @drabbottafadzwachikosi9067
      @drabbottafadzwachikosi9067  Před 4 lety +1

      When u select the area for your guide, avoid going beyond the height of contour of teeth. Secondly Sculpt the mesial and distal surfaces of your guide that engage undercuts of the adjacent teeth removing material, or print and trim the surfaces with an acrylic bur.

    This video shows a model based surgical guide design. Import stl, get the appropriate tooth from meshmix(pontic from Brenes library)and transform it until it fits the prosthetic space, get a cylinder and transform it so that it emerges in the center of the pontic, the diameter of the cylinder should allow the metal sleeve to fit the guide. Make the pontic and cylinder solid[THESE STEPS WERE DESCRIBED IN THE TEMPORARY IMPLANT CROWN VIDEO] czcams.com/video/ntVqeSEewYE/video.html select model S, create face group Ctrl G, after making the boundary smooth B, offset (0.15mm), seperate Y. Click the boundary of the separated shell, expand ring and make it smooth. Select the entire object ctrl A and extrude (eg 2.5mm) normal, offset and accept. Remove spikes by sculpting or procedure described in removing spikes video czcams.com/video/OKXRHBZxnm8/video.html. Make your guide solid and make cylinder visible then do a boolean difference, using the same steps described above, use a cube to make areas where you can see adaptation and ensuring a flat surface on drill hole.

      @@wilfriedbinyoe4128 you do not need to download the cylinder, its on the meshmixer page. Open Meshmixer and Click on the round icon on your left. Its the second icon written meshmix after import. Then go to shapes and click on the cylider.

      @@drabbottafadzwachikosi9067 : ok doc, i found it...but sir, just asking your opinion, for konvensional surgery implant..basicly not of all dentist has a CBCT, can we made surgical guide based on panoramic?

    • @drabbottafadzwachikosi9067
      @drabbottafadzwachikosi9067  Před 3 lety

      @@wilfriedbinyoe4128 Hi, the surgical guide presented in the video is based on the study model only, i made a comment that you need to complement the guide with an x ray. A CBCT will give you great and accurate detail but, a panorex will also give you good detail and although its not precise its still widely used in implantology.
