- Guys another queendom performance that was insane!
Personally, I liked this performance more than Lion however both of them were so powerful and amazing! But what I liked most about this performance is how much emotions there was and how they were portrayed !

The original version has of course the same lyrics (except the rap which Soyeon added for the nightmare version) but the instrumentals (lots of synth and bass) give it a very depressing and lonely atmosphere. A person that is beaten and knows that the relationship is over but is still questioning it.
The nightmare version changes the meaning of the song to a person that instead of mourning for the relationship is actually going insane. You can see in the performance that the choreo has stabbing motions. And the lyrics of the rap insinuate that the narrator is either stabbing their ex-lover or themselves ("Even if i do this, will you really leave me?"). If you ever watch Queendom you can see some behind the scenes of Soyeon practically inventing this stage from the scratch. It's actually breathtaking how talented she is.
I'm expressing this after killing my boyfriend. The red dress is covered with blood, and the police line is 1 TT.
Soyeon is an artist and poet who created it all, but is also hated for her talent.
History tells Powerful women are always hated...
When we say "NO ONE is better than I-Dle" we talk about this kind of things. Still theres not even a single group that has pulled more iconic, artistic, raw, bold, emotional performance than this masterpiece. Everyone can like and support the artist or group they want. But I-Dle is a whole level apart of the rest.👏👏👏

the original put it straight is a ballad song bside in their imade album which of course written and compose by soyeon BUT for the queendom ver they choose this song for the 3nd round called Fandoras box where they chose a song to perform chosen by their fans and soyeon pick this song(with the other mwmbers approval ofc) and arrange it in a gore ver that is named nightmare ver.
the way soyeon totally turns the meaning of the song is so freakin genius. the orignal is sad,depressed, a girl wallowing in sadness for being left by her significant one while the nightmare ver has a psychotic vibe, their performance have a story actually
the husband(the man being tape in the mouth) wants to leave the girls but the girls being so inlove with him she can't come to terms with him leaving so she killed him(thats why they're wearing a bloody gown) the way their barefoot, have smudge lipstick, having a roller coster of emotions portrying that they're in the crazy/psychotic stage esp soyeon where you can see her being depressed about the breakup in the intro, her being crazy and killing her husband in the rap then in the end shes so lost but then she smiled(a psychotic one!)
Soyeon can Rap and dance simultaneously because she doesn’t need to breathe. 😉

The opening Rap is a Modified version of her rap in "Uh-Oh", where she called out the haters that said she wasn't pretty enough to be an idol when she was 16 years old on Produce 101. "I told you I'm the gem of this place, you've been looking for Only what shines, and you missed me, who will light up this place" She proved those words, Soyeon has currently 66+ songs written and almost all were produced by her.
The original song is kind of a ballet... But Soyeon made this version for the show. And they also have a dance practice for this version.
The original song sounds different. Personally, both versions give different vibes and experiences. Maybe in future if you do a reaction for their b-sides, this can be included 😉

I do want you to react to their Hwaa Chinese version recording behind the scenes. You can see there how the girls get into their serious side (but they're still funny) especially since the goofball Yuqi translated, did the demo, and personally guided the girls how to sing/pronounce the words. Same process as how Soyeon does when they sing in Korean bc half of them are foreigners. There's also a section of which Soyeon explains the song (since she's the main writer of Hwaa) and how Yuqi manages to translate the song in Chinese. Note that Hwaa uses old Korean language and very poetic.
Anyways, thank you for consistently reacting to the girls! I really love your videos and hopefully you can do more from them. They're very talented but not many people know how passionate they are about their music. They are kpop but what makes them special is they are proudly self-made. You already saw how Soyeon does her presentations and it's very rare for a group to do that (companies have executives and producers who usually propose ideas). Their growth is organic, not because of how big or popular their company is (which usually is a big step in the industry since there are what you call "company stan"). They proved themselves the moment Soyeon took it to herself to write not just a DEBUT song but THE title track. I think it's because of that that the girls became passionate not just to be idols, but to be artists. Very rarely you'll see members learning how to produce. Not just lyric writing or playing instruments but arranging and composing as well. So thank you for appreciating their craft.

There is a Halloween version as well that you can check where they wore costumes. It is a special for their fans.
As others already said, the original is a ballad song from their 2nd album "I-MADE". During their discussion, Soyeon suggested to use this song for their performance, but some members, especially Yuqi, said "no". It is understandable since this is a ballad song and a b-side as well, so Yuqi said to use a popular song that the audience can follow. Soyeon then defended that she will remix this and make it stronger and have more instruments. After that, Yuqi then voted yes.
(side note: when IDLE creates a song or performance, all members should vote "yes" before they proceed with it. IF atleast 1 said |no" they will have a chance to defend or revise the concept then present again. IF there is still a "no" answer, that concept is either scratched or placed it pending list.)
Soyeon then explained that the concept of the dance (not story connected) is that "girls (idols) can still be pretty even dancing barefooted". As you can see from the performance, they were all barefooted, wore simple red dress, little to no make up even smudged it, messed up hair (especially Shuhua who loves her hair so much), and danced "crazily". In Kpop industry, girl groups were "standardized" to be cute or sexy and should always be beautiful in stage. BUUUUT, these girls were built differently. They always tried to break that norm and standards (thus the rap part in LION)
This song was originally part of the group's 1st mini album. About queendon, they also did a cover performance of "fire", which was amazing, worth seeing.

Yes this version is rearranged for this performance, The original is quieter and without Soyeon's rap, And I LOVE both bc both are the same song but they sound completely different and each one have their own vibe if that doesn't alone scream Jeon Soyeon is a genius artist then idk what bc she managed to do that.

Put It Straight wasn’t made for Queendom. They already had it, Soyeon just arranged it differently from the original into a “nightmare version” for the performance.

This was a remix that was done for Queendom. Soyeon changed the tune to make it more haunting. I really do recommend the choreography version they did for Halloween as well from their channel. ReacttotheK did a good comparison between the 2 versions

It s strange that you listened twice to the nightmare version. For lyrics you should have listen to the original version (czcams.com/video/DJiwE7rJAcQ/video.html) wich is a balad , more emotional than the nightmare version.

Kind of yes and no. The original B-side existed before the show; but it is debatable if it is the same song, even if it has roughly the same melody and lyrics. The amount of detail Soyeon added and changed in the Nightmare version is staggering. I absolutely loved the Nightmare version, but hearing ReacttotheK composer Sean break it down ("(G)I-DLE's Put It Straight: A Successful Re-imagining | Classical Composer Breaks Down the K - 7")... even if I only have the basics in music theory, it was absolutely eye-opening. Mad respect.
