A rarely told, but true, story is that when Elvis died and he placed in a Chapel of Rest in Memphis, a Presley family member came to sit with Elvis only to find James Brown there already all on his own. When asked how long he'd been there Brown replied "All day. Elvis was my brother. I loved him". Just reminds us that while we may argue about this and that about our idols, these two great, the very best of all time had nothing but love and respect for each other.
Soul Brother #1! I can only think of 1 group that may have arguably had a tighter or just as tight band as James, the Band is Sam & Dave's studio band. Thanks to my father for making me listen to the oldies on KRTH 101 in LA while growing up and quizzing me on who the artist was that was playing any particular song. While I didn't fully appreciate it then, I know what music is now when I listen to %99 of the groups that release albums today. All the young kids, especially the black youth should go raid their grandparents record collection and educate themselves on what music should be. Forget 2 quarters (50 cent) & Jay Z or whatever he calls himself and the rest of the black self proclaimed artists.. They couldn't have shared the same stage with James, Temptations, King Curtis, O'Jays, the Intruders or any of the Barry Gordy/ Gamble & Huff era bands. Lastly, turn off the computer and learn to play an instrument. Anyone can push a button & play pre- programmed electronic music.
This is possibly JB s baddest groove..and doing it justice live is v difficult even for the genius himself This version i think is the best and catches James at his regal baddest. Stupendous.

@TheDrummerDude17 Yes this is on the 1974 dvd compilation of The Midnight Special. Do whatever you can to get these dvd's. They are sensational. Amazing to see all these great perfrmers doing their thing - LIVE!!! They had a stand-up comic perform on each show too. George Carlin was one! They are simply fantastic. Go to the website - midnightspecial . Easily worth the money spent.
