- In this video I will be showing what Osogbo looks like in 2022.
Osogbo is the capital of Osun State in south west Nigeria. It became the capital city of Osun State in 1991 after the creation of Osun State on the 27th of August 1991.
The City Osogbo seats the headquarters of both Osogbo local government area and Olorunda local government area.
Osogbo is famous for its traditional Adire (Tie & Dye) which has made the town to be known as Ilu - Aro (Town of dyeing). Osogbo is also known from some forms of arts and crafts such as carvings, bead - making, traditional drum making, calabash making etc. Osogbo also hosts the annual Osun Osogbo festival along the Osun river home of the sacred site of Osun goddess. The goddess of fertility, style, fashion and healing. The festival is centered along the sacred groove which is a UNESCO heritage site.
Osogbo shares boundary with Ikirun, Ilesa, Ede, Ogbomoso, Iragbiji, Egedore and easily accessible from any part of the state because of its central nature. Osogbo is about 88km northeast of Ibadan, 108km south of Ilorin, 108km northwest of Akure. It is also about 48km from Ife, 32km from ilesa, 46km from Iwo, 48km from Ikire and 46km from Ila - Oragun.
