  • A big thank you to my brother for letting me use his Kubota L39 for my driveway project!
I moved 29 loads of dirt with a Kubota L39 and my 1988 Chevy R30 dump truck to extend my driveway closer to my house. I put a load of gravel on the new section of driveway.

Nothing beats having your own equipment for your property ! Saves you allot of $$$$$$ for projects on your property , I own a 1999 1 ton Chevrolet C3500 dually with a Heil dump bed , & a 5.7 with a auto. trans. it has been very reliable along with my two tractors 1959 M-F 50 gasoline , & a 2018 M-F 1526 diesel with a fel , & I live close to a quarry along with places to get all types of soil that I need , & pick it up with my truck ! Which saves allot on not having it delivered. You still did a very nice job ! Thanks for the video.

    My R30 dump has a 12' bed.
It can haul around 8000lbs of dirt or rock. Probably about the same as yours, but the bigger bed is great for demolition on my construction jobs.
The truck pulls my 20' trailer with takeuchi mini-ex or 28hp mahindra with front loader great.
I want to get a skid steer next.

I’m planning on working on this dump truck and making some more videos about it. I want to go to a quarry near me and pick up loads of gravel for my driveway. I have wondered how much I can haul in it. Also, I want to be able to tow my brothers Kubota L39 on his 20’ equipment trailer. That’s 9k - 10k lbs including the trailer.

I tagged my r30 for 16000lbs. Gross weight. It costs $300 a year for taxes at that weight here in NC. The truck is 7500 lbs. by itself.
These trucks are great, they really take a beating and will last forever with normal maintenance. I've spent a lot to get mine super reliable.
New alternator, clutch, front and rear brakes, hydrobooster, water pump, tires, and I resealed the pto and hydraulic pump. Then wired it for trailer brakes and so far in 3 years I've put 8000 miles on it and it pays for itself. I don't have to load and unload anymore. I can load it, then just dump and leave the landfill, then bill for my time and expenses.
You'll get there, just know that buying cheap and fixing it means you know what has been done. You're not buying some ticking time bomb.

I plan on working my way through it one part at a time to get it reliable and safe. I just need the time to do it.

I do think the battery needs to be replaced. I will buy one eventuality when I start driving the dump truck on the road. Maybe in the next few months.
