Good condition, fully operational, display and functionality without complaints, Fm stations good reception, excellent sound. Antenna is nice and straight.

seems not. I too hate that 'soft mute'. Tecsun pl 310 et, XHDATA 808 & DEGEN de1103 DSP model has this annoying tuning knob.

This reply is a little bit old (3 months) but you may still find it useful...
The radio does have soft muting (although less pronounced than Xhdata and others). The muting can be disabled by removing R57 (2.7k) on the main board. Single step tuning will now be smooth without any "chugging". However, some noise may appear momentarily if you tune from one end of the band to another, like when you change across memory locations . I can live with it...
R57 is easy to find on the freely available service manual.

No, Degen DE1103 is worse on LW/MW. Degen DE1101 was a copy of this radio.
