    It's obviously Big Foot, who somehow managed to get from Oregon to Dartmoor without even half trying.

    Another cracking video, thanks! We have a similar situation up here in Exmoor, starting in the early 80s on a farm in South Molton where dozens of sheep were killed. It got so bad the MOD got involved! Been getting sightings sporadically ever since! Weird stuff. 🤘

      Thanks! Exmoor is interesting because I think alot of it is private so there's places we're the public aren't about to see or disturb it 👍

    I would have liked to see a picture of the cat you were chasing.
    I saw a massive cat once on a green lane. I just thought it was a big cat. Then I saw one in a zoo. I was chasing it down the lane. It stopped when it got higher than me and felt safer. Must have been six foot away from me.

      That's a point - I haven't actually listened to any audio on the trail cam - I'll do that now!

    The Beast of Bodmin Moor! We definately have a breeding population of big cats, pobably Pumas or Lynx as they can easily cope with the winters in the UK. As you pointed out, live stock being killed, we have no big predators which can do this in the UK, i honestly think its a big cat.

    Seen a bobcat 9 yards in a open field broad daylight, I was behind a forest embankment and only saw it once I climbed it, probably the only reason i got so close. This was at my 8 square acre property a mile from the river dart.
    A year later when i got into hunting Where I would stalk my property with a pard 0 shot zero scope I realised the field I saw it in was a massive hotspot for deer when I lie down in groups of 2 or 3 at night. In fact the largest deer population for a mile or 2 seems to be right in and around my house. Yesterday my scope ran out of battery so I scanned one of fields with a head torch looking for eyeshines, I saw 1 thinking it was a rabbit but I obviously could not shoot since my scope is electronic and out of juice, so I walked towards the eyeshines without fear of scaring it away, I got within literlly 3 meters and it was a deer, lying down in tall grass like in the other field, we sat there having a staring contenest for about 7 seconds before it bounced off like they
    I'm going to try and set up bait around the area and with permission from the farmers, I'm pretty lucky I can just let the large predators come to me instead of prowling dartmoor at dusk and dawn. I'm thinking of creating a snipers nest on top of my roof (there is scafolding work rn so I can easily camp up high) and placing bait and keeping a close eye on where there wind is coming from. and scanning my fields and the main one with a pard ds35 nightvision scope, which is important because it has a built in range finder (this is important because it will help determine the size of the animal, people will always dismiss proof by just saying it's a house cat).
    Do you know what bait / smell attracts cats the most. I read online that canned sardines can be smelt from miles, and since their so oily they don't lose scent in rain. But I'm not sure if sardines work for large cats or just pets. I'm thinking of going to a zoo and asking the staff about puma ,jaguars and bobcats and what smells they pursue.
    Also I had an idea, you know those fox call whistles that simulate a rabbit in distress. You might be able to find programable audio emiters that play that sound every 30 - 40 mins and put it right next to your trail cameras. At lest thats what I plan for my cameras. I am 100% confident that if enough people worked together on maintaining sets of bait, audio emmiters and cameras, and even manual prowling with nightvison, doing so against the wind to catch a predator by suprise. Proof would be found in a matter of weeks. rabbits are a easy snack for both young and larger and older cats.

    I think the video was two squirrels chasing one another ?

    • @explorationsouthwest8851
      @explorationsouthwest8851  Před 29 dny +1

      To me it looks like it's a fox being chased... In a fair few frames, you can see the chaser has a white tail that goes up above it's back... I did also think a squirrel, however it's the same size-ish as the fox?

    • @BushwackerWildTracker
      @BushwackerWildTracker Před 28 dny

      @martynwilliams7098 that was a Lynx. That's Lynx cubs chasing each other . . I know the area and I know steve . We don't live that far apart . We drink in the same pub . Years ago there was Lynx release program that was stopped because of the opposition from the farming community. But I think some was still released. To bring the deer population down because of the destruction of the forest

I have now found there hunting area . I am no longer disclosing the areas I work . Because I get others following me . I do the ground work but others then come in .

    If you're on the game trail, then the cats won't be far, maybe leave trail cams a month and see what happens. The cover will be dying back soon, so you'll have more visibility. Thanks.
