  • Hi!! Had a few requests after my last video to give a little more info about the interview process for psychology at Oxbridge so here you guys go! This is based around the Psychological and Behavioural Sciences (PBS) course at Cam, and the Experimental Psychology course at Ox!
    Quick aside- I have literally no idea why the door behind me looks like it's warping in the video?? If anyone knows about Google Pixels and can explain please lemme know because it is BUGGING ME.
    Hope this is helpful!

      @kieraadams6880  Před 3 lety +3

      @@lorettabrown87 One type of question would be regarding the practical aspects of the course: e.g.: how much lab time do we get a term? I also find it's good to ask how you can prepare for the course if you get a place. My interviewers gave me some really great tips about books to read! I hope this is helpful :)

    Hiya, thanks for creating this video ! I am interested in studying psych at oxford (however my a level subjects are english language/literature , media, photography and psychology) As my only “science” subject is psychology, is there anything you’d recommend to prepare for a degree like this that includes high levels of maths etc ..
    Also, how would you recommend preparing for their admission tests? how difficult are they?
    Lastly, do you have any recommendations of reading or podcasts that you have found interesting and useful or related to the course?
    Hope these questions make sense, once again thanks for this video !! :))

    Hi! I know that this video is from a while back, but I was wondering, (hoping, really) if you're still active? I tried to follow the other comments to Facebook, but unfortunately I couldn't find your page. I wanted to ask about some potential books on the 'to-read' list to prepare, and I had a couple other questions. Even if you don't have the time for that, I wanted to say thank you for this wonderful video-- you're a lifesaver!

    Do you think it would be hard to get into Cambridge PBS with A levels in psychology, history and english lit as they mention that more competitive students have science and maths?

    • @kieraadams6880
      @kieraadams6880  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Bethany! So firstly this will depend largely on the college you apply to! Some colleges have maths as a requirement whereas others don't! Also, unless clearly stated otherwise, psychology is typically counted as a science for PBS applications. So you do have a science at least! Honestly, having done maths would definitely be a benefit in the application process, but it's not the be all and end all. Perhaps highlight in your personal statement some occasions where you've gone above and beyond to research statistical methods or perform your own quantitative analysis. This will help assure the admissions team that even though you don't have a maths a level or equivalent, you are doing your bit to prepare yourself for the stats side of psychology!

    • @kieraadams6880
      @kieraadams6880  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi! This varies from college to college, as all have slightly different entry requirements. Whilst maths A Level would definitely benefit one's application, it is not necessary for all colleges. I did not do maths A Level and I got a place :)
