- Today's video is a Lea Salonga Reaction to her On My Own performance from Les Miserables. My first ever Lea Salonga Reaction! After my last reaction video, a lot of you were surprised to find out that I didn't know who Lea Salonga was. So I decided to make this video for you all (and for myself too lol...cause I cannot afford to be ignorant).
Lea Salonga is a worldwide known singer from the Philippines and apparently, she has voiced characters from Disney and has played roles In Broadway.

this performance is from the 10th-anniversary "CONCERT" performance at the Royal Albert Hall London the cast was all in costume and Lea performed as Eponine as she had done in one of the productions of Les Miserables. For me, this is the definitive rendition of this song. and I could listen to it every day.

When I was a baby, I believe about seven or eight, I fell in love with this performance. I didn’t know that this woman also was Jasmine and Mulan. She was just Eponine. I was obsessed with Les miz so much I read the whole book when I was ten and she is a huge reason I did. She is one of my heros

More background on Lea: she had her 1st professional job at age 7 as a kid in The King and I. She played her first leading role at age 9 (Annie). Up until she was 17 Lea worked in theater, did concerts, made albums (her first album at age 10 certified gold), did movies, and appeared on TV including hosting her own musical tv show from ages 12-14. She was 17 and a freshman in university (pre-med) when she auditioned for Miss Saigon in Manila. She originated the leading role of Kim in Miss Saigon in London at age 18 and on Broadway at age 20. She received all the major awards: Olivier, Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Theatre World. Lea recorded the singing voice of Jasmine for Disney's Aladdin in 1992. She was the first Asian Eponine on Broadway in Les Miserables in 1993, sang with the Dream Cast 10th Anniversary Concert in 1995, then played Eponine on the West End in 1996. She was the singing voice of Disney's Mulan in 1998 and is the only person to voice two Disney princesses. She went into the Les Miserables Broadway revival in 2007 as Fantine. There are many other credits (more theater in the USA and the Philippines, albums, concerts, films, and TV), but those are just some of the highlights within the first 30 years of her career. She just turned 50 last month and she looks fantastic.

Lea was the first Asian to play Eponine in the Broadway production of Les Mis. This is from the 10th Anniversary Concert (not the show itself) in the Royal Albert Hall in London, with a 'dream cast' selected by the producers from the best performances in the show.
Later on Lea came back to the show to play Fantine and again was chosen to sing that part in the 25th anniversary concert. Check out "I Dreamed a Dream" from that concert.
