Thanks for showing this… just some observations. Most tips protectors that I’ve used don’t block the flow of air or water while priming actually every protective tip cover I’ve used has allowed air and fluid to pass the protector so that you can prime the tubing while the tip is protected. Also instead of priming like that what you can do is hold the tubing up above the bag and slowly lower the tubing so it fills the tube without air. Just an option. I don’t like my medicine being thrown away. Doing it this way makes sure no air gets in the line. Also, I’ve seen nurses do exactly what was done in this video. It should be illegal to print those numbers on that dial. They aren’t accurate. I’ve never seen a nurse check the flow rate after setting the dial. Even when they showed me how to use the tubing (this is the first time I’ve used the dial instead of the old way). The problem is that the height of my pole, my bed, chair or if I’m sitting up are all going to affect the flow rate. I realized that immediately when they showed me how to use it. I was like there’s no magic inside this! So sure enough I look it up and yeh… you gotta count the drips! Why do I think dial a flow is a good thing? Because I fell asleep with vancomycin running once and woke up with the thumb wheel fully open. It somehow slipped and my vision was completely hazy (side affect of infusing it too quickly). So I do think this is a good tool. I’ve heard of worse stories from the old meters going full open. Im just someone who has had to go through 3x infusion for 6 weeks about 7-8x over the last 24 years. First time dealing with dial was yesterday. It’s certainly better but should not be labeled!
