"To bring" in Spanish: "Llevar" or "Traer"?

- Learn fast and easy how to use the verbs "llevar" and "traer" in Spanish. Whereas in English you would say "to bring", in Spanish we use two different verbs. One, "llevar", is used when you want to take something from here to there (de aquí para allá). The other, "traer", is the opposite because you are taking that something from there to here. Aha! This is the difference between these two Spanish verbs. If you watch my lesson, you will learn these two verbs with examples, and details so you will not make mistakes. More importantly, if you are invited to a party, you will know which one you should use. Now, if you do not watch my lesson, then you are losing your opportunity to learn Spanish for FREE. Stop making excuses to learn Spanish. Be bilingual without spending one cent, with me, Butterfly Spanish, and start exercising your Latin mouth muscles :)

I wish I had Anna for my Spanish teacher when I was in school. She makes learning fun, humorous and memorable. She is better than any of the "Apps" that are being touted as a simplified means of learning Spanish. Wonderful job, Anna, I look forward to engaging in your tutorials and feel both comfortable and confident in my ability to converse in Spanish. Besides....you have a cute personality too, which helps stay engaged. Thank you.
Apps are good to learn vocabulary. She is very good in showing how to use it! 😂
You are so right in saying that and all I feel 💯 the same about her and her teachings and all a blessed 🙏 good ❤️ hearted Soul for real yeah 💯😁 YEAH 💪 strong good 💯 personally yeah...
Yes, Ana is so very charming!
This is great. I always thought 'llevar' and 'traer' had the same meaning and were interchangeable but now I know better. Also, it's easy to remember which one to use when if I think about the phrase 'para llevar' which has the meaning of ordering some food 'to go'. If you order 'to go' from a restaurant, you are always taking it with you - they're not bringing it to you, so it's 'llevar'. Thanks for the excellent lesson.
Oooooh did not know that. Thanks!!
Soy hispanohablante y estaba buscando un video para aprender francés, es la primera vez que veo un video explicando mi idioma, que gracioso se ve jajaja. Ya me imagino cómo se sienten quienes hablan otro idioma.
Ana is the best Spanish teacher ever on CZcams. She’s articulate, cute and funny for me to watch and learn.
Agreed
Every time she says “do you understand?” I say yes. I feel like I’m in a classroom.

I love how quirky you are Ana! I actually enjoy watching these videos and what you teach is so usable! And understandle! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!❤❤❤
Using 'llevar' seems to be the same as 'take' in English. 'Take the cake' and traer 'bring'. Love your lessons. Thanks Anna.
I've been teaching myself Spanish at home and the way I understood it is that llevar also kinda means to carry so it's like you ask someone to bring you something and then they agree to carry it to you
Thanks Anna for the strength and communication skills you show. It's easy to memorize your classes because of the intensity of your intent, Muchas gracias
Thank you so much! Your lessons are so helpful. I am able to practice more with duolingo and I know the "why" behind the translations. I also donated!
It is clearly evident that you love what you do! I like that you teach with a tremendous amount of passion and enthusiasm! I also like that you will give several examples to help your audience learn and retain concepts you are teaching. Your humour makes learning fun! Keep up the great work! Buen trabajo!
All these years later and I'm watching this chuckling the entire time. Love all your videos :)

¿Puedes hacer un vídeo para explicar como usar los verbos "querer, poder" en el pretérito?
Few realize how impressive it is that this was one-take, few cuts/edits
I love all your lessons and I understand everything that you say. You are my favorite teacher to learn Spanish...!!!!
Best Spanish teacher hands down 🙌🏽⬇️
Please keep up the great work and the consistency. Your efforts do not go unnoticed. Great video!
You are better than my book. Eres más mejor que mi libro. ¡Gracias!
.Eres mejor que mi libro. De esa manera se dice sin el mas. soy nativo de lengua española.
What would we be without you? You make it so fun! Thanks a lot!
“Llevar” has the double L and so does there “allí”. I will use that mnemonic to remember the difference
Thats a great point
For the lazy its a Y sound. For those who want to sound more fluent its almost a hard J sound melded with a Y
Como se llama (jYama)
you're the best spanish teacher and i promised to my self to follow your channal more and more to improve a spanish language, so keep teaching us in your channel:- muchas gracias .
This lesson is 5 years old, but it is also a Friday and I learned so much. I always wondered what the difference was. Muchas gracias maestra!

Gracias. Soy brasileño y estoy aprendiendo "both lenguages".
Gracias por las lecciones.
Ana, tus clases me ha ayudado mucho. Lo mejor es que esta clase es más fácil para mi ya que es casi como en portugués (levar e trazer). Muchas gracias y saludos desde Brasil!!!
Eres Muy muy muy Buena!!! Tu explicación es divertida y comprensible!!! Gracias!!! Köszönöm!!! :-)
Muchas gracias Ana🙏🏻 Tus explicaciones son tan útiles 👍🏼👍🏼😁
Thanks Ana for another very useful lesson! What helps me keep these two verbs straight is to think of llevar as "delivering" something somewhere. I think of traer as someone bringing something to my location.
Thank you so much Butterfly! This really helped!
This is a wonderful video. I want this woman as my teacher!!
Ana...you are such a wonderful teacher! I love, love, love your lessons!!!

So Stylish! Made Me Jump To The Lrsson. Love the authoritative tone variation in this lesson! Verrrry Cool! Still pleasantly interactive as well! Excellent BALANCE!
this video was done extremely well - i feel fully educated on the proper use of these two words.
Muchas Gracias. Me encanta Butterfly Spanish.
I like your teaching style!
Using both spanish and english in explaining helps me to learn faster! :3
Excellent Class!!! Anna you really made this easy to understand. Thanks!!!
Please keep up with the great videos- I find them so useful! GRACIAS!!! :D
This is a superb lesson (as always from Ana). I found that for me to remember the usage I think of from 'T'here --> Here is 'T'raer - i.e. Both start with the letter 'T' and once you know the scenario There-->Here then use Traer, else use llevar. This simplified the usage for me considerably.
Querida Ana, tienes que explicar que “lleve” es en presente de subjuntivo. ¡Gracias!
True, am not sure why she uses Subjontive - I assume because there is Querer + que.
Great as always
It’s was my honor to be able to donate to this cause. Keep on doing what you do Ana. All the best as you continue to convey these materials which are very engaging Stay safe.
Muchas, muchas gracias de corazón :)) Te mando muchos abrazos y saludos.

gracias Ana!! great lesson. very clear
Gracias Ana. I was very confused on the correct way to choose between the two verbs. You have helped clarify the concept so well.
There are lots of Spanish learning channels but yours is the best!!!
Hola Ana, can you make a video about the difference between the preterite and the imperfect past tenses? It's confusing but if anyone can make me understand it, it's you. You're the best. Gracias para todo!
Muchas gracias por subir el video! Es muy interestante, no habia reconocido que hubiera una diferencia entre los dos verbos. Ahora no voy a volver a cometer ese error :)
Actually, English does have two verbs that are similar to llevar and traer : bring and take. The difference between the use of these 2 words is the location of the speaker to the listener and the direction of which the action will be going. Here are some examples: Take your dog away, it is scaring my child. (Wouldn't say, "bring your dog away.") Take this coffee to the table in the corner. Thank you, for bringing my coffee. Teacher to student: Take your project home to finish and bring it back tomorrow.
It seems similar rules apply to bring/take and llevar/traer. (Ooops, just saw djb1ge's comment. :) :)
Tienes razón :)
AugustHawk
I thought TOMAR = TAKE
