- Gargoyle's Quest is a fun mix of platforming and rpg elements, though, the rpg part is limited to an overhead view map and some stats that increase as you progress.
You are Firebrand, a gargoyle, but not just any gargoyle. You are the evildoer from Ghouls 'n Ghosts who, this time, has to save his realm from some other creatures that want to destroy it. They are creatively named "Destroyers".
The dominant and most interesting part are the platforming or "action" stages where you jump, fly and spit fire in a side scrolling view. Between those stages you move around on a map view with random encounters that have no purpose other than a time sink. Also, this game is really short. Sure, it is on a portable console, but it's also really easy - and has a password system too. But it was really fun to play and I particularly liked the climbing and flying around.
The graphics are nice too. I like the little details in the background, but other than that there is not much to say about it. The sound is great! Yea, it's 8-bit sound that makes your ears bleed, but the themes are interesting and don't get boring quickly.
It's a classic on the GameBoy that is just lacking a bit more depth that you would expect of an action/rpg hybrid. Check it out, it's absolutely worth your time :)

This was my first ever game together with Tetris. Way too hard ..
Some for me, but at 13, the difficulty was just right. Was damn proud finishing it :-)

Hey thanks for uploading this. It was in 91-92 when i played this on my Gameboy. So i was 14-15.
The graphics and gameplay was so awesome for me.
If i watch the video now im like "uhm ok....the graphics".
But nice memories came up. I was addicted to the game when i was a kid :)
Full game 1:24.i took me weeks to beat this game when i was young ^^ one of my favorite gameboy games.

i dont know what everyone is talking about. This game was dead easy, i remember i finished it in about two hours first around.
Yep. It always puzzles me why people consider it to be hard. As a boy i experienced it to have a medium difficulty level, just right. What am awesome game, though, i used to love it, my first own favourite GameBoy game apart from Mario Land (which i borrowed from a friend).
Sampler19 i liked it too, and the ambiance. But yeah, it was medium Hard first time around, but once you learned all the levels and got sufficient powerups it was a piece of cake
First of all I was German and the game in English, and I was about 10 years old. Though I admit, I rather stumbled over the language issue back then. The levels weren't too hard. At one point I just had no idea, where to go and what to do. That's why it's so nice to see that gameplay. Realizing I did about 70-80%, though ..

Well I remember when I got it when it came out. You can't deny that the beginning was pretty hard but later on the game wasn't so hard anymore.
