    1. Please mind your safety: I am not responsible if you blow yourself or your TV. Even unpluged the electronic boards might have high voltage and give you deadly electroshocks.
    2.Sorry I did not made video of LED removal and soldering because I ran into some troubles... The LED model needed was 6V and I got only 3V. So I tried to solder two leds in series which was not the best idea. I ordered the 6V LED and will change again when I receive them, I think the 3V LEDs might not hold for long as their amp rating is lower.
    3. I ordered the LED on aliexpress, I advise you to order the different models (6V, 3V ...) as they are cheap.

    thx for all the posts on the topic. Finally went to repair shop checked prices of a complete set of backlights understanding the problem. Great feature guys did it while i waited brought the 43in lg smart UD. Was made in 2017 so with a price of $160 was a pretty good refurbish with a 3-month warranty. yeap took about an hour but i brought it in for a bit of a discount. Was able to confirm backlight problem with all the info from all your t.v. guys.

    Thank you, good video. I use to work on TV for years, but never a flat screen. Someone gave me a large one, and everything look good in the power supply, so it has to be in the lights. I know what to do now, so many thanks my friend!!!!!

    Interesting is that you can use the diode setting on a DMM to test each LED individually and not require a lab power supply. I'm not sure all LED strips have individual LED test positions/points. Thanks for sharing. Maybe using two 3V next to each other would work better if worried about voltage loss on luminosity low.

    • @socks2441
      @socks2441 Před 4 lety +1

      he did that and it created a bight spot, on the other one he just put a single 3v in and it worked better, entire brightness down by a little. each led losing a miniscule amount of brightness, but at least its even doing it that way.
      i admit if it were me i would have done the two 3v in parallel to match 6v too though..

  • @camurgo
    @camurgo Před 4 lety +6

    Interesting. I've seen a very similar problem of image rapidly flashing on and off on a tv (everything else working fine, sound, changing channels, etc), and the problem was the lvds cable (which connects the mainboard to the tcon). It seems like you went straight to the LEDs without even conducting a preliminary test. It would suck if all the work of accessing the LEDs was for naught.

    • @pierreboyer9277
      @pierreboyer9277  Před 5 lety +2

      Then it's probably the backlight that is having a issue. Note it can also be the backlight power supply, not necessarilly the LEDs themself

    what minimum power supply do i need for this?
    did you solder the individual LED's or replaced the whole strip?
    since the leds are cheap, would it be worth it to just replace all leds instead of checking for the faulty one, since i dont own a power supply?
    if you can answer my questions, thank you in advance

    • @legobuilds3219
      @legobuilds3219 Před 2 lety

      1) For the 4 led strip, 6 volts per led, in total 24 volts for the 4 led strip, for the 5 led strip, 6 volts per led, in total 30 volts for the 5 led strip
      2) He soldered the led individualy, he didn't replace the whole strip
      3) If you have the tools to solder, then its cheaper to replace the led, but if you don't have the tools to solder, buying the strip will be cheaper.

    Hi, I’ll appreciate your assistance with advice on how to fix my TV.
    Tv name: LG 49UF770V-ZL.
    No video showing on TV from all the 3 HDMI’s inputs when connected to either satellite box and laptop.
    When I log-on CZcams through the internet on the TV, the wordings and picture show except the video.
    The TV shows pictures but no video.
    Thanks for your assistance.
    Kind Regards

For 3 days changing backlight settings won't do anything it stays all same regardless 0 or 100 in settings. Not too bad as it was not so dark either too bright. Now is fine again but sometimes of blinks a little almost not visible but blink some area in center blinks black. What could this be ? Thanks in advance.

    My LG went out last weekend. Having to use an old box tv until I can get a new one. Only way I can watch the LG is to turn it off, then turn it back on. You can see the picture for 5-10 seconds before the screen goes black. The volume still works & you can still change the channel. Just no pic longer that a few seconds.

    To Pierre Boyer.
    hey bud, I have an LG 43 in. That backlights when turning on the set flashes and goes off and look like it's a backlight issue but it is not a back light issue bc all the backlights turn on when checked w a backlight tester. Actually, when I got the T.V. set it worked fine. Only problem was when I cut the T.V. on 3 lines would show on the left side of the screen. Anyway, I opened up the set to clean the screen panels, the boards and the entire inside. I assembled everything back together and it turned on, the lines was still there as expected. I took the set down stairs to the play room to use for P.S.System and the set would not turn on, just the flash of the backlights and that is all. Would you be able to help me w what the problem may be? Thank You, my brother!

    • @pierreboyer9277
      @pierreboyer9277  Před 3 lety

      If all the LED are ok when tested then it probably means the problem comes from the LED power supply. Which is usually on the main power supply PCB.

      For some TVs turn down the LED brightness setting if it’s at 100% by default. Some of come with setting at 100% automatically I think, burns out faster. Could be a faulty cable giving too much power to the strips burning them out quicker. Or maybe LG are just trolls

      Aoyue est très bon niveau station de soudage CMS, surtout celle avec pane et corps chauffant céramique intégré. Oui, c'est des copie de Bakku, mais pour m'en servir depuis plus de 10 ans, je t'assure que c'est très bon et très solide. J'ai essayé de la station Weller spécial CMS, c'est de la merde à coté. Ca chauffe pas sur de la pane crayon ou biseau de 0.1... Aucun soucis pour faire du recyclage de led CMS de 0.3 mm de large par exemple et pour dessouder à 180°, voir 160° seulement. Ce qui est super pour de la LED. Avec du Weller qui date des années 1970 en conception, tu peux éventuellement t'en servir en pied de biche à coté. EN plus, ca chauffe en 5 secondes, fer éteint au préalable.... 20 euros la pane... Çà pique. Mais, étrangement, comparé à du Weller, bha...Les panes ne s'usent pas, même avec de la soudure enrichie en plomb. C'est ce modèle de pane là et c'est 20$ pièce. Soit 160 euros le kit qui suit. www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Soldering-Station-Tips-AOYUE-Lead-Free_2001439072.html
      C'est loin d’être du low cost! Pour ce modèle, en tous cas. J'en ai testé un paquet et c'est toute de la merde à coté de ça. Sauf Bakku, comme dit plus haut.

      i had a cheap monitor i got for free. i found a bulging capacitor and replaced it with a similar voltage and micro farad and it works fine now, albeit a bit dim. the back light did not work at all initially on this monitor, if you put a light right up to the screen you could sort of see something was actually bieng displayed on the screen, otherwise it was just black.

    I had that same thing happen when I plugged in my TV and the TV repair guy said it was the motherboard.

    • @pierreboyer9277
      @pierreboyer9277  Před 5 lety

      It can be the power supply board. Motherboard I doubt it. But not impossible.

    If I took the time out to do a job like this, the least I could have done would have been to put an image up on the display to see the final result. I would also have tested the new LED in line with the rest and shown that. Disappointing,
