  • I test out a Yamaha RX-V2095 A/V Receiver that I got for cheap at a thrift store. Then, I fix the issue that was probably what GOT it sent to the thrift store.

    After almost a decade of being broken (and yes using the remote instead) , I came across this video so I may attempt the same repair on mine lol. Thanks

    Great job ! I really enjoyed ur detail on the plastic tab repair and your attention to detail is very impressive. You turned junk into fine wine. I think my Yamaha has a relay or capacitor issue. It doesnt stay powered on anymore. How can I fix my problem I dont want to throw it away ! I paid about $500 for mine from the Harvey High Fidelity store, on West 45st in NYC, about 25 years ago and I have always enjoyed its functionality ! Damn time really flies !

      Thanks for the encouragement! It's pretty hard to diagnose problems like you've mentioned from afar, so I don't have much in the way of suggestions there. Your relay or capacitor idea sounds like a good place to start.

    There are more controls on the side of remote control. The display lighting is normal, mine is the same.

    Hello, it’s been more than 2 years last time I turned ON my RX-V2095 surprised that front main right channel isn’t working at all plus the sub seems no signal coming from the receiver, another issue that I noticed, when I touch the main couplers at back side specifically the lower one (R)I hear a high hum from the channel that isn’t even working witch is front main right, appreciate any positive advice!!
    Note: test tone are working normally for all the channels except the right ch.

    Scooter likes to play, lol! Cute cat. I have the same unit from my dad. He said it won't power up at all. I don't know anything about testing these so I may have to take it in.

    Hi hope you are well? I am having abit of a issue with my reciever hoping you can assist. It switches on for 1 second and switches off,I was told I need to do a factory reset but I don't have a remote! Is there any other way to do the reset? Or any way for me to look into the problem of it switching off after 1 second?

    Haha, first time i've seen a receiver measured by weight per dollar.

    • @SomeDisassemblyRequired
      @SomeDisassemblyRequired  Před rokem +1

      Thanks! It's partly a joke, but there really is some truth to it, since quality audio equipment is always heavier and sturdier than the cheap stuff.

      @@SomeDisassemblyRequired Sure, i get it.. I actually own two Yamaha Receivers (RX-V890 and RX-V663) and they are awesome receivers. I haven't however yet measured their weight/dollar value, although i expect mine to be quite high as I bought them brand new at the time. 😊

    21:00 what about adding a spring to the mechanism? looks like the purpose of the tab was some sort of tension spring, might be able to supplement it by just adding a real spring.

    • @SomeDisassemblyRequired
      @SomeDisassemblyRequired  Před 3 lety

      Thanks for the comment. That's not a bad idea but assuming the glue that I used holds, I think the springiness of the plastic itself will meet the need. (That seems to be the way Yamaha designed it originally.) Also, the travel on the micro-switch is only about 1/8 inch, so I'm not sure how much room there is to put in a spring.
