    When he makes it look that easy, you know it shouldn’t be this hard. Appreciate y’all. Thank you.

    Probably the best series on "butchering" a deer I've seen. Easy to understand and learn from. Truly practical and useful. Watch all six!

    I processed my first deer after binge watching all of your videos over a day. I'm about to do the neck, before finishing the trim and grinding. THANK YOU for this wonderful resource!!

    Your dad has taught me a lot about deer processing, just by watching him go through step by step. I saved all of the processing videos in my deer processing playlist on here. If you ever decide to take them down, would you consider offering them on disk or thumb drive? This series will be playing in my garage while I process my next deer. Semper Fi!

      Thank you so much for this comment. I don't have any reason to take these down so no issues there. Let me know how it goes when you get that next deer! KPO

    WOW! I've been butchering my own for years but always struggled with the neck. I just learned more in under six minutes than many years of trial and much error on my own!

    Hi Dave, I just wanted to thank you and Don for this great 6 part series. It is very generous of you both to share your knowledge in this clear and useful video. I thought Don's presentation was the best I have ever seen on the subject. The attention to detail and cleanliness as well as the the well thought-out professional process was very inspiring and motivating. Thankyou! -Ray (adkbuck)

    Your dad is very informative in these videos! Although I do things a little differently, I learn a lot from him. There's nothing wrong with learning new ways! What I like to do with my neck meat is either use it for hamburger like you do or for sausage. I do, however, keep the neck and boil the bones to make venison soup. The neck is one of the best set of bones to use for soup. Very few people I know waste their time with boiling the bones but the end product is so good. It's one of the few things I can get my kids to eat off the deer is my venison soup!

    I usually bag does, so the neck is not very large. But, if I haven't shot into the neck, I like using the neck meat for jerky and/or grind meat. My Dad taught me to try to use as much of the deer as possible and within reason. Don't waste time on anything bloodshot or has bone fragments in it.

    This is the first video I've watched.... really nicely done! I struggled my way through with the rest, but next deer, I'll have the series lined up at the end of the table. I'll be watching them all soon. Second deer I've done and I still have a doe tag, so I'm sure I will put the tag and videos to use. You're blessed to have cool stuff like this to do with your pop.

    Thank you sir, miss the days of going to the neighborhood meat store to see my grandpa working as a butcher. Bloody apron and that distinct aroma fresh meat. I still have the commercial grinder from that mom and pop store. It doesn't get used much as I prefer to can my free range food.

      We like to grind the neck into burger or make roasts.
      Here is a link to the roast vid we did.

    So don't worry to much about the silver...?

    • @KnettersPracticalOutdoors
      @KnettersPracticalOutdoors  Před 6 lety

      The silver isn't an issue if you make a neck roast or put it in a grinder for burger. These are really the only two things I would do with the neck. This ISN'T the cut to use for steaks. For the complete run down of what parts of the deer are good for what check out my other deer processing videos Parts 1 thru 5 also. Thanks for watching. KPO

      @KnettersPracticalOutdoors  Před 6 lety

      Jon, if someone in my family or myself gets a deer this season I plan on doing a video on grinding burger. Couple of thoughts for now would be smaller grinders do need to have the chunks of venison cut pretty small before they go in the grinder. Neck roasts done in a crock pot or slow cooker are excellent if done right. Be sure to check out my Front Shoulder video. My dad shows a great way to make a roast and even how to cook it. You won't be disappointed. Thanks again. KPO
