Ordered on black friday. I've been using a normal backpack from middle school and it's been through a lot. This backpack seems to be a fantastic choice cause I usually get stuff in my backpack and it tends to overflow. So this would fix it + I've been searching for a laptop backpack too so this fits that purpose too! Seeing the pockets and the way you can use this pack is just phenomenal! Even tho I don't have it yet. I know I will love this pack!

Do you find yourself using that beavertail like feature much? I have the DA Dust and LOVE that pack. I also have the Condor Venture and the MilSpec Monkey Boss Beaver pack and I'm not sure I'm crazy about that feature cause I feel if I load out that outer admin space, the extra weight flops around. At least it's removable on the Ghost. Nice review!
+fubar1217 what do you mean by the "beavertail" feature? You mean that outer-pack? I have it completely loaded out and the shock-cord and cinch straps keep it perfectly tight. I think they did a really nice job making sure it wouldn't flop around.
I don't understand why it's so hard for companies to get it right in things so simple. Like using a light color in the bag's inside so you can see things easily

nice pack and vid. I'm currently on the fence between this and the MSM Boss Beaver. Each has some things I prefer over the other, big thing I love about this bag is the back and how it would create a serious air channel for air flow during hiking and packing. The Boss Beaver I love the fact that it convert to a shoulder sling bag. MSM is little more pricey but its also made in USA which is a big deal (to me anyway). I think in the end ill own both bags anyway haha.
yeah, they are very similar. About the only benefit i can see of this one, is that you could remove the front pack, if desired. Since this one is almost half the cost, maybe start here and see if it suites your needs. I still use mine to this day. It's in my truck every single day. It's been rained on, dropped in mud, had gas spilled all over it. It's holding up great.
yea that is the other option I think is brilliant on this pack, being able to remove that front part and essentially have a smaller pack to carry or take with you on a short trip from camp or your overnight spot, and the price also effects decision, made in USA definitely cost extra
Can you please comment on the weight when empty? Website says 5.04lbs. I currently use a Rush-12 and find that 1000D Nylon is just too heavy for daily city use (Rush 12 is supposedly only 3lbs)

I have the falcon 2 also. I reviewed it a few years ago. Technically, this is the same material; however, the Direct Action bag seems better built. Almost every bag I've reviewed has some flaw. Whether it's broken stitching or whatever. This one is absolutely perfect.
Could you post a detail of what you actually have in the bagpack? We don't have all those things optimized for bagpack in france (like the little medkit, nice tupperware and stuff), would be great to see what's in there, might gave me some ideas on what to order :)

I do. Still use it as my GHB. It’s still in great condition, despite being thrown all over in the bed of my truck the past few years. Haven’t found one I like better yet

i call bull on the story about the bag getting rained on for 8 hours and not getting soaked through....i have a DA dragon egg and a bit of rain will soak in to the contents (notebooks!)

In 3 years, not a single person has questioned/commented or even noticed the feature. In contrast, i used to carry a bag that had more traditional molle. People asked all the time what the "strips" were for. This is MUCH more gray man to the average person. Maybe not to those who actually know what molle is.

the bottom is rubberized, but not really padded. The pocket intended for the hydration bladder can easily hold a 15" laptop.
You can add padding yourself. Foam

The Dragon Egg doesn't have the flaps over the zippers. Nothing to stop water like this one.
