他の撮影者の方々と直前まで話していたので、近い場所からの同じような動画になってしまいました。また、映像の一部に微振動によるブレがあります。

主さん動画有り難うございます。 そして何よりも義足の彼女には頭が下がり、尊敬すらしています、この動画は本当に貴重な時代でも有りますね

A thoroughly enjoyable performance, topped by a rocking finale. As with others, identified many individuals, but won´t name them. The Director does blather on, but if you have access to any with English translations, you will realise what he is doing. He is complementing them and putting into context their performances. During 2018 he felt he had to resign and took up teaching in another school. A new overall Music Director had been appointed that year and since then you can see, slowly at first, a distinct change in direction. (Up to each individual what they think of that). The former Music Director did write a book, concerning teaching methods, and related subjects, and his interview a year or two later is very revealing. His basic aim was to Entertain, but also for the students themselves to enjoy what they were doing. (And it wasn´t easy at times, he confesses). His arrangements plus the students own choreography when put together were a world beater. I see someone asked if they could play anything else. Yes they could. Check out their indoor seated performances of a few months earlier, or their farewell concert in 2018 in January, after the Rose Parade.
For me, this performance is an example of KT at their best, one of several performances over the years, which I can watch again and again. I count myself damn lucky to have experienced KT. ( By the way I am not really fond of marching bands, and not particularly fond of some of their tunes - unless it is KT performing. They had magic about them.)

そのローズパレードを含むアメリカ遠征では、ディズニーランドでのパレードやグランドドリル、ホールでのドリルステージや慰問先でのドリルなどを熟しその上で9kmに及ぶローズパレード全て構成などが違うにも関わらずこのハードスケジュールを全て笑顔で熟した橘はオレンジの悪魔ですね🤗
クラリネット前列に114期、115期のDMさんが並んで演奏演技、なんか鳥肌立っちゃいます。
こうやって橘吹奏楽部の歴史は引き継がれていくんでしょうね、素晴らしいです。
伝統が伝説になり、そして神話になる！
演奏中に、誤って旗を落としてしまうシーン。何とも可愛じゃないですか。パーフェクトグループの１ミス、何か人間味を感じさせてくれて、凄く嬉しい。
For those interested, the following is a short history of the school and some events:
- Founded in 1902 as Kyoto Girls Handicraft School by Takeo Nakamori.
- Renamed Kyoto Tachibana Girls' Junior High School and Kyoto Tachibana Girls' Senior High School, April 1957.
- Tachibana Women's University founded in 1967, went co-ed in 2005.
- High School went co-ed in 2000, and all courses were co-ed in 2003.
- Tachibana Junior High was (re)opened in 2010.
- Tachibana Oji Kindergarten opened in 2018.
- All Tachibana Band Members play instruments and do so in sit down performances. Normally the Senior Year D-M will sit in the 1st chair of her/his section.
- Their signature dance moves/routines did not start until 2005/2006, when a former snare drummer was inspired by the ballroom dance show "Burn the Floor".
- Adopted Sing! Sing! Sing! (With a Swing) as their signature song during the course of the following year, and is choreographed by the students, as are all their dance routines.
- The band votes the future D-M from the freshmen in October of their 1st school year. She/He serves as assistant to the D-M in their 2nd year and promoted to full D-M in their 3rd year. Her main responsibility is to arrange and supervise all training of the band, though there are other duties as well.
- Have been told that they practice their routines in the sand surrounding the school. Because if they can remain upright and not slip and slid in the sand, then they perform on just about any surface.
(Was in Disneyland in 2005 when this band performed for the 50th anniversary of the theme park. Though they played some classic and up-beat songs, they just marched and swayed with the music. Nothing compared as to what they do now. This was when the idea of competing for the annual Rose Bowl Parade was conceived.)
- Performed in the 2011/2012 and 2017/2018 Rose Bowl Parades and various other venues.
If one looks at this video closely you will see playing and performing on the Clarinet, a future D-M that will lead them in the 2017/2018 Rose Bowl Parade along with other band members, including my favorite flute player.
I have heard, do not know if it is true or not, but if someone makes a mistake, like a flag-girl dropping her flag, or a band member missing a dance step. Instead of scolding them or chewing them out, the DM will give them words of encouragement so that they can perform better next time. That is what makes this band so great, because of the friendship and encouragement shown towards each other.
When a band member makes a mistake/misstep, etc they have what they call reflection meeting. But as you said they don't get chewed out/scolded/belittled they just get words of encouragement and encourage the member to do better the next time. :) I know this because my wife is Japanese and played clarinet in her school. When my wife saw the young girl drop the flag she, said, oops reflection meeting. LOL

最近ではダイエットを兼ねて動画を観ながら曲に合わせて同じダンスをしています。まだまだ付いて行けないですけどね。
橘の皆さんは、ダンス+楽器で奏でてるなんて、改めて凄い人達だなと感心している毎日です。
これからも京都橘高校の皆さんのご活躍を楽しみにしています。

Ahh, Lil Miss Hitomi, I can't help but envy the person who she chooses as her life's partner. I hope and pray that that individual makes it their life's mission to protect and cherish her and never tire of loving her for their entire life together. For she is a special human being!!! SHE'S GOT ALL THAT POTENTIAL AND THEN SOME!!!??? :)
It today's world it is often difficult to find true heroes. But Hitomi is a hero and she is a member of the best band in the world. Her journey is made even more remarkable by what she had to overcome to be there. She will always be my hero.

溜まらず今年東京から初めて生橘を見に行きました 感動が激しく周囲に恥ずかしい思いをしてしまいました

Think too, about the guys. Undoubtedly, with most guys going for the sports club, there are challenges for the guys who opt for the arts, though their path in Tachibana is every bit as physically demanding as the sports. Of course, as the announcer said at the 2018 Band Fest, they have a terrific advanatge when it comes to dating.
京都橘の演奏はCZcamsで何回も見てきましたが、フルートに義足の方がいらっしゃるのは初めて見ました、、、

前半の映像は何となく彼女を撮って伝えてくれてますね。 ^_^ ただ彼女はメンバーの中でも秀でた方のようで厳しい橘の中で10人ほどのフルートメンバーのリーダーと成り「義足」なんてハンディーは誰もが忘れる程の努力家だとかむ・・・見習いようもないですが嬉しさだけは毎晩の良き睡眠薬となりました。この映像の一年後のローズパレードやディズニー、大きなグランドでの彼女やその仲間たちの爆発は心地よき、勇気頂ける有り難き世界と思っております。
これは本当に素晴らしい挑戦と、それを認めた指導者と仲間達の友情でも有りますよね。 現在の義足の彼女の事はどうなのでしょうね。 進学なり就職されてますかね
2018ローズパレードの映像は沢山あるのでどの映像と特定できないのですがラストに地元ラジオ?のインタビューにドラムメジャーのゆいさんと入れ替わりに応えた映像がありました。「この後は短大に行き音楽を続けられたらいいかな～」と ^o^ 1年生の時には手術もして厳しい練習を乗り越え９キロもの道程をダンスしてフルート吹いて・・・他の生徒たちにも靴の中の足が出血していたとか聞くと膝への荷重、負担は相当のものでしょうが笑顔でインタビューに応えていました。力強い人生を歩まれる努力を重ねて行くのでしょう。橘の皆さんの笑顔に日々感謝イッパイです。

I really feel bad when I see one of the flag girls drop her flag. Knowing that they are focused on perfection, dropping a flag must be a really serious thing for them. Always happy to see Sing SIng Sing as the closing number. It never gets old and the band members really seem to enjoy it as well!
They are human, just like the rest of us (only much more talented & dedicated), not mindless robots, but yeah, I agree.

The D-M who also notices, after the performance is over, takes the individual aside, not for scolding, but rather for further encouragement and advice.
During this performance it is not surprising. Wind was quite strong.
The flag girls, and the ones holding the School's Banner also play instruments. When called upon, other band members substitute for the flag girls and the ones holding the banner so that they can perform as well. Making this a great and well organized band.
Yes and you can also see the two future DMs (front centre) playing the clarinet.
A band that single handedly raised the bar for every other band over the entire globe. They better bring their A Game :)
KT SHS B or C games are still better than most!!
Awesome performance. Love how the band highlights one instrument at a time in their performances. That Director sure loves to talk though. Both times I thought he was reciting a novel. I recognized a couple of ladies, the DM in 2018 and the young lady with the prosthetic leg. Must of been their first year in the band. Even though the performers change each year, they always look and sound amazing. They are on my bucket list to see in person. Just wish they were were easier to support from the US. Catch the fever.

Philip Soon and she marched/danced the entire 5.5 miles of the Rose parade in 2018, WITHOUT COMPLAINT. That is inspirational stuff right there folks.
Haven’t watched this performance for some while and I sat and watched with my jaw dropped.
This was around 2016 or so , this was lead up to the forthcoming RP18 tour.
Lots of familiar faces in the band and some personal favourites Ron on the clarinet and the amazing young lady on the flute, Kurara 🙏. An extraordinary young lady who defied all the negatives and played her part in a brilliant band of that time.

確かに祭りのスタッフさんに指定の位置まで運んでもらっても良いかもですが、これも吹奏楽部員さんの大事な作業だと思います😍
それに指揮台は顧問の先生とDMさんが使う大事な道具なので自分達でセットする事に大きな意味があるのだと思います😍🎵
因みに自分は個人で音響屋をやってますが、演者さんが持ってきたものは例えケーブル一本でも本人の了解無く触る事はご法度ですので😍
逆も然りで、私も音響の機材運搬を手伝っていただく事が多いのですが、意図しない扱いをされる事がままありますゆえ😅
勿論その方々に悪気はなく上手く伝えられていない私に非がありますが😅

この様な状態でパレード曲聞くと全体の音が聞けて良いですね パレードは長いから映像を移している辺りがメインに聞こえリズムだけでメロディーが聞こえなかったり後ろのメロディーがメインのクラリネット辺りだと管楽器が聞こえずらく迫力がなくなるしで 踊りながら演奏している橘が見られるのは何処でも良いけど パレードは映像が難しいですけど マーチングみたく全体が聞ける見れるこの様な形が良いですね

京都橘のパレードは躍動感が素晴らしく、直接観るには良いですが、おっしゃる通り撮影は難しいと感じています。指向性が強いマイクでは臨場感が損なわれてしまいますし、パレードの音録りには、いつも悩まされています。
その点、パレード振り付けそのままの立奏は、全体が見えて聞こえて撮影にも適しています。できることなら両方とも観たいですが、わがままですよね。
今年 2017年は、大江のイベントには出演しないので、ちょっと寂しいです。
少し前のステージで今年最後のステーになりますと言ってましたから 正月のローズに向けての練習でですかね?
ジョイントコンサートは10月 9日が今年最後でしたね。あと残っているのは、トラックまつり、Daion吹奏楽フェスティバル、定期演奏会でしょうか。パレードは、なさそうですね。昨年は、山科、大江、ガラシャのパレードが残っていたことを考えると、少なく感じます。
ローズという大イベントに出場するとなれば、練習時間が必要なのかもしれませんね。
If I were living in Kyoto I would be at every Band Performance. I would be a KT Groupie. That is how much I love this marching band. I would not miss one single performance. But, I can only imagine that the people of Kyoto would just say, oh, its just the kids marching around.... LOL
It makes me wonder if the young girls/boys of the Kyoto Tachibana SHS Marching Band actually know how popular/adored they are throughout the world? I say world because I see many people add their comments in several languages! How awesome is that!?
Had they done the.... "ah, samba!" part during the Rose Parade I feel that the crowd would've loved it.

They know they are popular around the world, that's why their Regular Concert last December was live-streamed internationally, and a ticket site was provided in english, and it was announced in CZcams in english for fans abroad. Some fans abroad send them greeting cards and even donations. They even have their own share of stalkers :)

@@jays2573 I'm not referring to anyone, but there were reported incidents of stalking, like members getting letters, etc.. That's why the school is very strict about the band's privacy. The band notified fans not to send messages, gifts, flowers, etc. b/c they will just be ignored. True fans(in agreement) will not divulge names, or social media accts of the band members, unless they already graduated or like professional musicians. There's always a downside for being popular. :)

全く早々ではありません。すでに２週間が経過しております。
『カラーガード』は素晴らしく、私も撮りたいんですが、この日は少し風がありましてフラッグを落とさないかと、写すのを避けた箇所があります。結局は写してしまいました。また、このユニフォームにして動きが激しいので...。ご賢察頂ければ幸いです。
『音』にはこだわりました。別録りです。

It just wouldn’t be a KTHS band performance if it doesn’t have their two signature pieces. Down by the River Side and Sing, Sing, Sing. They own both works, nobody can do them better.

Nope, they don't switch sides. They stay whichever sides they are put in from their first year until they're replaced with new first year banner bearers.

As with many Tachibana posts, some informationa about where the performance took place and what the significance of the event was would be welcome;
This took place in Oh-e-yama, which is about 2 to 3 hours by car from Kyoto. This is at a festival to promote local tourism, based on a folklore about an ogre (Oni in Japanese) named Shutendohji, who liked to drink and did bad things (in the background you see the figure on the left with horns. The figure on the right is the hero who killed the ogre, I think).
Short haired Flute girl at the front is one of my favorites. She was on the last row during the Rose Parade but she was just as awesome as those in front. Does anyone happen to know her nickname?

私もこの現場に行っていましたが、観客の多くは地元のお祭りの一部という認識の人たちの様で、目の前でおこっていることの何たるかが理解できていない感じでした。
「へ～すごいなあ。部活で毎日練習すればこんなことができるようになるんだ。」程度の感想なのだと思います。でも、橘のパレードとマーチングが両方しっかり見れるのは大江だけだったので復活してもらいたいなと思っています。
