  • This is BXD serial number prefix machine that has just left the shop after receiving a power Train rebuild. This includes engine, axles, transmission, & torque converter. Customer can add or subtract additional items. This machine was taken down to the frame and also had the cab reworked. Looks close to a new machine. Take a walk around this beauty with me.

Thank you. They do turn out looking brand new and just think of the metal that does not have to be mined and refined.

Hi Mitch: I'm a retired HDR/W mechanic, primarily cat, I pretty much avoided trash compactors of any sort.
But I do have a short story, I'm 74 now, back in in 1974, working for Syracuse Supply cat dealer, a rail spur came up
to the dealership: I was on the night shift, I did a lot of transmission work: in and out stuff. the night foreman tells me to load a sheeps foot compactor on to a rail car. smaller then the one in the photo, I was having issues about doing it. Something wasn't right, No matter, I chain it down, don't recall the details now: The following day or days later, ? I was asked about that machine, what I did with it: as much as asked me where I put it. really, I loaded it on to the rail car like you told me to, you seen it. It was a pretty slick job, some how, it never went to where it was suppose to be going, disappeared. never found it. My guess it was sitting in some rail yard getting ready to be put it to work. My guess it was You owe me, and it covered the IOU.... three times that happened with me, all three times the owners and or superintendent, both said load it up, gone. I worked dirt spreads. back when we used 666 along with the 657's, and the 641 A series and 51 a series, old school... in places in CA they get methane gas from the land fills. if one were to explode, you can say good by

Another great video. These landfill machines look so nice before they get to the work site. :)

I agree. Love seeing them all clean and all the new parts before they go back to work.

Nice machine. Working at Fresh Kills Landfill, I have thousands of hours on them. Although those wheels are serviceable. (I've seen worse. ) It would be nice to have brand new wheels on it. There is nothing like a new compactor standing on its tippy toes. Except a brand new dozer or loader all yellow everywhere. LOL

That's a serious landfill. Very cool that you work there. That's where they took the steel from the original WTC, right? We use 836K's at our landfill. Pretty similar machine. You'd think they could climb up a wall, but get a little wet, sticky clay on the wheels and they are like ice skates. I've gotten one stuck too many time to admit. Please get me back in a dozer! :)

Thank you for the view Phillip. Believe it or not, Caterpillar use to offer these wheels as one of their REMAN products. Eventually they moved away from that because what I was told is the wheels got worn down too the point of it costing more to build them back up than the money they were making on selling them.

@Layth Grangaard Hi friend, all of the debris from the WTC and other buildings that were destroyed. Were taken to Fresh Kills Landfill where they were examined for human remains and DNA. Then they were sorted. All of the aluminum, brass, copper, and other non ferrous metals were separated out and taken to NJ to be recycled. The steel beams, large and small, were cut up and sent separately to NJ by barge (large) and truck (small). Everything else was buried at Fresh Kills. Later, when they discovered 'secondary ' WTC debris. When they were building the Freedom Tower. Was also bought to Fresh Kills. Where the Medical Examiners office personnel examined every once of it, looking for DNA. That material was also buried at Fresh Kills. When completed, Fresh Kills Landfill will be the largest Park in NYC. Over 5 miles across.
