1952 ൽ വീതം വയ്ക്കുന്നതുവരെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ ഹിന്ദു കുടുംബമായിരുന്നു പാലിയം തറവാട്. എ.ഡി. 1956 -ൽ പാലിയത്തെ സ്വത്ത് 215 ഓഹരികളായി വിഭജിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. 'കൊച്ചിയിൽ പാതി പാലിയം' 'കോവിലകം കഴിഞ്ഞാൽ പാലിയം' തുടങ്ങിയ പഴമൊഴികൾ പണ്ട് നിലനിന്നിരുന്നു.

Usually it is a place where elderly Paliam Members used to come in the evening and do the rituals and the lighting of lamps and Pooja. Usually outsiders are not allowed, without permissions. Generally permissions are not granted. Others can give money to the Paliam Members and will do the Pooja on behalf of them. Not directly by the non Members.
○പാലിയം കോവിലകം അഥവാ പാലിയം പാലസ്. പാലിയത്തച്ചന്മാർ കൊച്ചി രാജാവിന്റെ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിമാരായിരുന്നു. അക്കാലത്ത് പലവട്ടം പല സാഹചര്യത്തിലും രാജാവ് ഇപ്പോൾ ഉള്ള കൊട്ടാരത്തിലും, ഈ കൊട്ടാരം വരുന്നതിന് മുന്‍പ് ഈ സ്ഥലത്ത് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന മറ്റൊരു കെട്ടിടത്തിലും താമസിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. അത് കൊണ്ട് രാജാവ് താമസിച്ചിരുന്ന കെട്ടിടം ആയതിനാൽ ഇതിനെ പണ്ട് മുതലേ കോവിലകം അഥവാ കൊട്ടാരം എന്നാണ് പറയുന്നത്. പാലിയത്ത് ഉള്ളവർ ക്ഷത്രയരല്ല എന്നത് വാസ്തവം.
