Idries Shah is the only other spiritual teacher I've come across who has spoken of greed for spiritual experiences or insights. Shah saw them as a hinderance to spiritual growth, but we're all (well most of us) greedy as f**k. In revivalistic, charismatic Christianity greed for spiritual experiences is seen as a good thing. In the beginning of his ''Masnavi'' Rumi writes of the pain and longing the reed suffers for the reed bed. Is THAT greed? But how can U.G. say greed liberates greed ?
