- The Mazurka is considered Poland's quintessential national dance. It comes from the region of Mazovia near the capital Warsaw. It's the birthplace of Frederic Chopin, whose Mazurkas for piano helped him win international fame.

Nguyên Nguyễn Lê Thảo this is when Nicholas comes home from the war and brings dolokhov I believe and he dances with Natalia/Natasha: his sister
Nguyên Nguyễn Lê Thảo sorry I haven’t. Is it good? Corona virus is making me read more
the Polish speakers in the background and the English narrator are saying completely different things. Nothing wrong with the narration, which is interesting and relevant, but it is presented as if it is a translation
My father loved this very much. He hated American polkas. My mom who was Ukrainian listened to all polkas. My dad always complained about those polkas. But my dad loved the mazurka
Mazurek not Mazurka
Czyli twój tata był rasistą i ksenofobem? Nic dziwnego jak większość białych amerykanów z przełomu 1940-1980. Janksey najgłupszy naród świata, taką macie opinię w prawie każdym kraju na świecie. Ignoranci i głupki szczególnie na Bliskim Wschodzie gdzie wykonczyliście parę państw dla swoich korzyści.
How I wish Disney could make a princess movie based on this...
Mazurka Princess? In neighboring
Hungary, there us a well known musical.+ film called Csardas Princess.
Dziękuję
Cool dance!
Hard to comprehend when you're bilingual and the English speaking lady is talking over the Polish one and saying something different in meaning.
Yeah
True. It's not even a very loose translation, she says completly different things.
could you translate the Polish for us?
Wonderful.
I only learnt to dance the Hokey-Cokey and I still do that whether at weddings, funerals or even the disco. I think I need to get a life !

Good ole times when Germans banned Chopin music calling it racially inferior yet claming that Chopin is German... Good time...
They destroyed many of the original manuscripts during the 2nd world war too, I study Chopin autographs pretty religiously and whenever I reach pieces where the autograph had been destroyed in Warsaw, I cry inside because I know my questions about the music will never be truly answered.
@@ILubBLOfficial They also stole and tried to Germanize hundreds of thousands of Polish children, killing their parents in Aushwitz and Majdanek concentration camps.
I'm sure the dance is called Mazurek... ;-; I heard this for years not what this is called in the video. I might be right might be wrong. But it might 80% be what I said.
You say mazurka when it's "the dance of Mazurek"
Then you say mazurka. For example.
"taniec mazurka."
Yet when it's by itself you say Mazurek. So you should write Mazurek. Hope you know what I mean. Thank you for listening
Mazurka is from.Russian or other
foreign language, similar to.waltz +
original vals.
wow denisov is popping tf off
Does anyone know if this theme 03.42" wich Chopin composed in his Mazurka op.33 nr.2 is a traditional polish Mazurka theme? Or it comes from Chopin directly? If is traditional theme how is the name of that song?
What a composer does in a composition like this, is imitate the sound and rhythm of a folk song, but at the same time actually makes up a completely new melody, as if this music exists in traditional.

I like it m
Who's here because of the Addams Family?
"Poland was under Russian rule" - you forgot to add Austrian and Prussian too...
That is true but from my understanding the Mazurka was created during Russian rule.
J van der Kaas
Eh no... way before the partitions.
J Groenveld what do you mean?
1:08 - they also didn't translate that it was during partitions
three bandit nations germany, russia, austria have agreed to destroy the Polish empire ... none of these bandit nations would have the courage, the courage to attack Poland one-on-one

That last mazurka sounds like Chopin's Op. 33,#2. Is it really Chopin, did he just arrange it, or is it an arrangement of Chopin's original?
This is a folk dance and an original folk melody from Masovia (the region where Warsaw is located). But Chopin was strongly inspired by Polish mazurkas, kujawiaks, obereks, polonaises, and these are often intertwined.
@@alh6255Thank you! I always thought it didn't sound quite like Chopin....
Here because of Chopin uwu
I searched this because I seen the name in a Webtoon
Do you mean "is it a Fortune or is it a woe?". Cause i was searching for this too because of this webtoon UwU
who's here because of nationalism in europe?
Hi
Assassin's creed syndicate brought me here.
strange. looks so much different from the Mazurka danced in BalFolk.
I got the impression that it’s only the English who are not continuing the traditional dances.
England's traditional dances are flourishing. There's several forms of Morris dance being practised around the country. Clog dancing is rarer, but still exists. The most prevalent form of traditional dances are the folk dances done at ceilidhs. You can find folk dance and music all o er the country.

it is NOT"Mazurka", but Mazur. "Mazurka" was a term coined by Chopin, and doesn't exist in folk music.
@Marzena The name Masurka originates from the Polish term "Mazurek" and is quite a common name of the folk dance in many languages. You can find an interesting article here: polishmusic.usc.edu/research/dances/mazur/
DW Euromaxx There isn’t such a thing as Mazurka among Polish dances. There is Mazur, yes. “Mazurka”, a term used by several composers, is a stylized artistic concept drawing on Polish culture, and not a real dance existing in Polish tradition. It encompasses a whole slew of musical ideas associated with Polish music - anything from Kujawiak to Oberek.
@@marzena5931 That would be like me, an Italian, complaining about the entire English-speaking world saying "Rome" instead of "Roma". Different countries have different words for foreign things than the natives do. No big deal.
Always thought Chopin was completely French
Western people like to remove other nationalities
Half French..🙂
