    I’m guilty of not using up my whole collection and still struggle with wanting to buy more, it’s so dumb 😅 I’m going to start a no buy for makeup and hope to make it to the end of the year. Wishing everyone good vibes ❤

      I feel that, I don’t understand why I am like this hahaha. I need to start by just using palettes I don’t use!!

    Honestly even if people are better at rotating it gets too much quickly 😅so I fully agree with you. We just gotta stop buying more make up if we're not running out of things or maybe swapping items with others. Something a lot of beauty folks on here do which makes me wonder if we're all insane : when they do a shop my stash or throwback every so and so many months only in between weekly hauls and reviews and then say:sometimes it is also nice to use the make up you already have you know? Go back to your stash... And then they use their clearly barely touched make up 😭😭😭😭???? What do they mean "sometimes" you should use the make up you own??? What the heck is make up even for if you don't use it. Why do we buy it... To throw it in a drawer and never look at it again ? What's the point of using a product one time? Why even try out a product if you don't actually want to have it... It's mind boggling and pure nonsense. I'm not even sure they are fully aware what they're actually saying and how ridiculous this is....

    If you’re doing your makeup in your bathroom, it’s probably best that you have a makeup bag rotation. The moisture and humidity in bathrooms can make products oxidize or expire faster.
    I just finished a mascara yesterday and opened a new one and thought of you! Then you popped up a pic of your mascara stash and I was like 😮👀 I think Lara likes mascara 😂

      I really recommend having a little vanity in the bedroom instead of doing your makeup in the bathroom. I have an Ikea Micke desk, a wall light up mirror plus a smaller table mirror and honestly I would not go back. If you don't have space for it just do your makeup at your office desk or dinner table. Definetely don't store it in the bathroom, humidity is what bacteria loves a lot. I can send you pictures over Instagram if you'd be interested and want some inspo on organizing things.

      I should!! The issue is my first priority is always my project pan items

    I started panning makeup two years ago, because I didn't have a lot of products and they were getting old because I was wearing makeup like 1 time in a month ( and I really thought I could use up everything in like 5 months 🤣) but through panning I've really gotten into makeup and while I panned some categories and gotten replacements for it, lipsticks, blushes and eyeshadows are kind of impossible to use up and I will be on a replacement no buy for years and years to come, because even though I have like around 30 eyeshadows split between a few different palletes I've been using the same 6 eyeshadows for the last two years and I'm neglecting all the rest of them so I really don't ever need to buy any more

      that's so cool, that panning has made you more interested in makeup! I think it's the same for me :)

    I've been in your comments a few times this year mentioning my "12 makeup items in 2023" low-buy.
    I'm doing an impromptu no-buy for the months of June-July-August! I'm saving these 3 items for the fall :)
    I might even save some more months for the black friday craze, it's not cheating on the low-buy if I stay under my cap 😝

    I’m one of those people that has a pretty minimal collection and hardly wear makeup. I have 17 products in total lol. But I love watching content like yours because I love watching people talk about makeup but the beauty CZcams space has turned in a sales call to buy more and more.
    It’s kinda boring.

    I pick my makeup out weekly. I allow 2 blushes, 2 mascaras, 2 powders, two lip products, a face pallet, then one of every other category. The only exception is eye shadow as I just grab what speaks to me on a daily. Occasionally I will prioritize certain pallet. It really helps in the effort to rotate my products and show them all a little love. Additionally I have a rolling project pan. I include in my rotations and use on the weekends. I’ve established no and low buys. Luckily I love all the products on my collection. If something doesn’t work for me I return them. If I miss the return window I will give to family, friends or co workers! Ultimately, I being much more conscious and just really want to not buy as much in the feature. I definitely neglect my eye shadows the most. Agreed it’s time to 🛑

    Wow, it never occurrd to me that someone who loves makeup would use the same palette every day. I get sad if I use the same eyeshadow two days in a row because I have so much I love and enjoy using a different palette every day! (Same with blush, although I enjoy using the same bronzer a couple days in a row). Then I have categories like foundation and mascara where I only have 1 haha, clearly they don't bring as much joy.

    • @laralikesmascara
      @laralikesmascara  Před rokem

      I just find I get into my palettes for certain periods of time! So I'll only want to reach for one specific one for a month or two. Same with clothing or food, if I'm really enjoying something in particular I will gravitate towards it for awhile 😅

      Man I sometimes(a lot of times actually) use no eyeshadow at all when in a rush and I'm definetely feeling guilty about it. But I definetely prefer to use whatever I'm feeling that day, be it the same look for few days in a row. It's just most enjoyable when I don't need to force myself to use something just to keep a perfect rotation.

    I disgree to some extent, there is no "should" about having to use up your makeup products. I don't force myself to wear every article of clothing until it has holes. I find joy in variety. The purpose of my products isn't to be empty eventually. I think the #1 reason you need a no buy is if it isn't budgeted or causing financial stress. Otherwise it is like any other hobby.

    • @justynawisniewska1213
      @justynawisniewska1213 Před rokem +1

      I don't know. I think doing makeup in its own is a hobby, collecting products is not. If you need a certain variety sure, but it often isn't about it, it's about constantly trying new things and keeping up with the influencers. If you get into a hyper-consumer mindset it definetely shows in not being able to finish things before they expire. Of course some things are hard to use up when you have even a little bit of a variety like powder blush, bronzer, eyeshadow or lipstick but they still should show considerable amount of use before being discarded, if they are barely touched and already expired that means something's up with your consumer habits.
