The whole album sounds like the color light green its fantastic
Aaah - that’s why Come and Play in the Milky Night sounds so brown!
that's so accurate
I taste Orange...
But I dig ya! 😊
@@brandonbentley5453you see green but you taste orange
I fux with it. Very groovy
My Uber driver suggested I should give this a listen .. I guess there is good people still left on this chaotic planet ✨
Great idea from your Uber driver. You 're lucky.
Sounds like something I would do
Dots and Loops is an amazing album.Sonically comforting. If you ever want to feel how the 90s were, give it a full listen!
Please….an another incredible addition to the 90s…even late 80s. Jesus lizard. Sonic Youth. All inspired, including Stereolab. Great times to have been young and knowing what’s good in small clubs. INSPIRED
Very much agree in fact Dots and Loops was a departure from their previous work. This album in particular showcased the risk taking and introduced jazz as an component of indie music which wasn’t the norm.
It was really an escape from how the 90s were musically. Indie music blossomed into a million directions and top 40 was way worse than the 80s.
Discovered it after I had surgery to rice and replace my ankle in a wheelchair on Percocet and weed drawing on my computer ..created some of my best pain art
Sounds like 90s internet connection
Man, stereolab's aesthetic is so on point. Impeccable album art, song titles, and visuals.
Yes it is. underrated is an over used phrase on CZcams, but I think they qualify.
Yeah, but their music's so bad! ;-)
@@spaceboy2095 very subjective comment but ty for input
@@yeaaight That was a joke... this person is saying everything is great but does not mention the music...
@@spaceboy2095 unfortunate
One of my favourite drum grooves ever
I was in New York when I first heard this song, and it turned me onto Stereolab. This album became like a theme for me as I wandered the city for days upon days, admiring the modulation of infrastructure, and integration of personalities and the influences they left behind. I was young, naive, and hooked on Stereolab. I'm fortunate to have seen them live with Mary Hansen.
I love this band.
Stereolab forever ❤❤❤❤❤❤
RIP Mary.
I tend to prefer the more Slint influenced, build-and-release style of post-rock. But really, THIS is what that genre tag was really created for. Stuff that uses the bed of rock music to fly off into just weird territories. Stereolab and Tortoise, with their mixing of rock, jazz, and electronica, are the true post-rock bands and I have nothing but respect even if my tastes lean more towards Mono and Mogwai
I love seterolab. This album has a mysterious Mona Lisa smile feeling to it. Listened to it on shrooms and it was ethereal.
Hey! I just did the same thing. I had the same results
This a song you play on a early morning right after you wake up before your alarm rings. Feeling euphoric and ready to start your day.
It is very early right now!
This song is so great, remembers Brazilian music.
Good call, the album too has Milton Nascimento all over it!
Yeah this is totally bossa sounding
20 years later...and i still can't nail this bassline
Start with ABBA Dancing Queen. Then you’ll be in the ballpark.
Omg I thought I was the only one! It sounds relatively simple and sturdy but it’s hard!
My radio alarm on BBC Six Music woke me at 7am this morning with this, wow what better way to enter the day.
6 music FTW!
Waohhh !
It's really sad how mostly forgotten they've become by the majority of their once-ardent listeners back in their heyday in the 90s. At least there's still a few of us who acknowledge their beautiful existence as a band that's got a lot to say about society as a whole, especially nowadays.
¿Tambien saqueó algo de aquí?
I am just discovering them. and really digging them.
Stereolab is one of the most influential pop groups to ever exist wym they are far from forgotten
Never forgotten!❤️
I'm a nineties kid, this music defined that era for me, was the backdrop to my college and post college city living
02:58 Mary, we'll always love you! Stereolab is Love
always loved her sweet counterpoint to Laetitia's contralto. she will always be missed. yes, stereolab IS love. pass it on!
This song and video, was my introduction to "STEREOLAB". Back in 1997, when this video first came out. I saw it here in the USA, on MTV's "AMP" show. Dedicated to electronic music. Aired at 1 A.M. in the morning on Saturday's. I immediately bought "Dots And Loops" on CD. When I was 17. I just recently acquired 2001's "Sound-Dust [Expanded Edition]" on CD as well. Great Band!
This was vaporwave before vaporwave.
Such truly Hip and hypnotic music. Very timeless. Hard to believe it's 25 yrs old. Sounds very contemporary.
Favorite band ever honestly
All the stereolab songs I’ve stumbled upon have such a warm but nostalgic vibe. Can’t wait to slowly peruse through their whole discography
right?
Timeless masterpiece fucking song
I love the nostalgia for old technology.
Retro-futurism as aesthetic
@@waynedarronwalls6468 Hazeltine 1500 and a C Pet XD
The old was once the new and the now, and was better than what we are in presently.
If it ain't broke...
Lyrics:
Sur la boîte cartonnée un trompe-l'oeil
Avoue volontiers qu'il est trompe-l'oeil.
Sur la boîte cartonnée un trompe-l'oeil
Avoue volontiers qu'il est trompe-l'oeil,
Donne l'idée do jeu et do mystère,
Un spectacle intime donne l'idée do jeu et de l'humour,
Spectacle qui rime, qui suscite dans les yeux un éclair,
Une découverte, une idée qui peut jouer des tours,
Une muse, certes, donne l'idée do jeu et do mystère,
Un spectacle intime.
Sur la boîte cartonnée un trompe-l'oeil
Avoue volontiers qu'il est trompe-l'oeil.
Sur la boîte cartonnée un trompe-l'oeil
Avoue volontiers qu'il est trompe-l'oeil.
Miss Modular
On the cased box a trompe l'oeil
Confesses willingly that it is trompe l'oeil.
On the cased box a trompe l'oeil
Confesses willingly that it is trompe l'oeil,
Gives the idea of the game and the mystery,
An intimate spectacle gives the idea of the game and the humour,
Spectacle that rhymes, that arouses on the eyes a flash,
A discovery, an idea that can play tricks,
A muse, admittedly, gives the idea of the game and the mystery,
An intimate spectacle.
On the cased box a trompe l'oeil
Confesses willingly that it is trompe l'oeil.
On the cased box a trompe l'oeil
Confesses willingly that it is trompe l'oeil.
Do 😂 ça n’existe pas en français !! C’est du… bref les paroles sont quand même bien naze 😜 heureusement que le son est top
As a 'Lab fan, I wasn't sure what I thought of the Dots & Loops album when it first came out back in '97, but wow, it really holds up a quarter century later.
Such a one of a kind band. One of the best female composers.
well she was the lyricist, a very good one. But she didn't arrange the music.
I miss mary.
I found this band by mistake 2 weeks ago & downloaded 7 of their albums already.
How did I miss them in the 90s?
You found them, and thats good.
just found this cd. cant stop playing it
Shoulda guessed this was 90s stuff. Got a very warm feeling as soon as the song started. Thank you Stereo Lab.
Yes ....the 60s had huge inflence on the sound of the 90s bands, esp later 90s
One of the best bands ever--do they even Have a single song that's not at least good, or more often, great? If so, I've yet to find it, in decades of extensive listening. They also have a sort of timelessness, that keeps their music fresh and interesting. I Love Stereolab! ;)
one of the most unique bands that has ever existed, i got to see them in 2019 before covid in Toronto and it was an incredible experience
September of 1999, 20 yrs old at a party in NJ and someone puts Cobra Phases on the stereo. The first song was wacky but as soon as "people do it all the time" came on, I had a eureka moment and have been a huge stereolab fan ever since. VERY unique sound.
@@kidkique For me it was right around when Emperor Tomato Ketchup came out, and our hip "left hand radio" station I was listening to in my apartment spun Cybele's Reverie and Brigitte back to back, which literally, immediately floored me, haha. I just laid down by the speakers and knew I was going Nowhere until I found out who and what it was! It was love at first listen and I started buying their albums as I could at our really good record store in the city. Such a great musical experience when you're like "This is good, and this is good. . .hell, it's All good!"
;)
Love this album I recall i.lost my high paying job had my r ankle removed and replaced and lost my lover all in the same month ...I'd play this while I drew digitally and painted on pain pills and weed some of my best work .
Typical Stereolab Banger
Still obsessed in 2022
Top three all time favorite SONG. Stereolab is slept on big.........solid track in any language
What a groove. Even corduroy is jealous.
Atlanta brought me here. Thank you Donald and Hiro.
"Spectacle is the sun that never sets over the empire of modern passivity."

timeless album. timeless melodies. what a band.

StereoLab is Touring this year! :D
I don't know if a perfect groove exists anywhere in the universe, but this is certainly a top-ten contender
I love STEREOLAB one of my favorite bands :-)
God, I love Stereolab.
It never gets old!
Very lovely tune
Que buen gusto el de cerati por dios
I will never get tired of dots and loops...Ever.
best vibe ever recorded!
Beautiful bass!
MTV 1997 cuando ponían buena música! Y la vj Ruth en esos programas de madrugada de videos alternativos
I found this band some years ago, and still find it so new. It was out of its time/age
IMHO Dots And Loops represented Stereolab's creative peak and the songs on this album are absolutely their finest work
the most perfect song ever
One of my all-time favorites...
Stereolab BEST álbum so far
It could have been in a Jacques Demy’ movie, especially Les Demoiselles de Rochefort. I adore it
I won tickets from 97X to go see them at Southgate House in Northern Kentucky many years ago. I had only heard some of their stuff before and liked it but after that live show I was hooked for life. That was 21 years ago I believe, the year before Mary was killed on her bicycle.
saludos desde argentina, excelente !
One of my Stereolab’s favourite! 🧡
Great beat and bass line! Fantastic!
Atlanta brought me here.
If Retrofutirism Utopia had a type of sound, Stereolab is the band ❤️✨
1997. Mi piacevano tantissimo. Bravissimi.

hell yeah i know that feeling, had a similar feeling when i first heard Broadcast in ‘19, i was angry and also thankful, and then quickly, incredibly sad.
My housemate introduced me to this band and I love it. See ya cats on October in Philly.. Excited for the gig indeed😊

Dulce y cálida Melodia. Fueron Buenos Años
this album dots and loops i bought in 1997 cause i thought it looked like the band would sound good...i was not disappointed... this is what looking at the cover reminds me of
This is too much for my mirror...great stuff...great album
1:33 looks a whole lot like the itv london weekend id from the 70s
I think that's what they were going for. I thought of the Portland Trailblazers myself.
Old is cool VH1 clásico.
