  • This video documents the process of building a 14' x 20' Arched Cabin. This particular Arched Cabin uses a skid pack for the foundation so it can be moved at a later date if the owner decides to change locations. Each and every Arched Cabin will have a very similar build process so you can see the speed and ease of assembly! Thank you for watching our video, check us out at ArchedCabinsLLC.com for more information!
    Call us at 832-930-2724, we'd love to hear from you!

    How do the ribs connect together? Are they welded together later? What’s the R-Value of that insulation? Does it also act as a moisture barrier as well? Did you add more insulation later? How do you guys connect the frame to the wood floor? And do you add any type of caulking/glue in the seams of the base? Sorry for all the questions.. I agree with others that there needs to be more videos on building..my wife and I are very interested in these and would feel a lot of more comfortable buying them if we knew exactly how to build them before purchasing.

    • @ArchedCabinsLLC
      @ArchedCabinsLLC  Před rokem +9

      The ribs are attached at the ridge beam and base plates with self tapping screws. The R value of the one layer of installed insulation in this video is R12.5, with both layers that we sell, it would be a total of R25. It has a moisture barries on one side and radiant on the other. The base plates that run the length of the arched walls bolt to the founadtion. Caulking/glue is not necessary but you could if you wanted to. More videos are coming!

    • @ArchedCabinsLLC
      @ArchedCabinsLLC  Před 7 lety +4

      Great question! An arch is structurally stronger than a straight line, so if you're concerned about wind speeds or snow loads our Arched Cabins have higher ratings. We also build our cabins with a steel structure, which is less maintenance and longer lasting!

    • @Joshua79C
      @Joshua79C Před 5 lety

      Think of it as an A-frame but with arched walls, made of steel ribs instead of wood, the pitch alone is enough to shed snow from the top portion but it does pile up on the sides so if you have got a path needing shoveling then you are in for some snow removal hardship. If you live in a snow zone.

    • @ArchedCabinsLLC
      @ArchedCabinsLLC  Před 6 lety

      We use special insulation that pulls the moisture out of the space between the ribs, and we also encourage vents in the roof and end caps! Condensation isn't an issue!

    Has anybody built one of these on blocks of stryrofoam with some kind of telephone poles on either end to keep it in place.. i have a friend who's house keeps getting flooded.. this looks light enough to be supported on dock foam blocks to avoid water damage..

      They don't seem to want it elevated, but floatable. The poles are to keep it in the same location with it rising/floating with the water, much like a spud barge is held in place yet rises and falls with the tide.

      They go through a patented rolling process to achieve a certain degree for the kit they're going to be a part of! The rolling makes the steel stronger during the process as well.

      Our cabin kit frame is entirely steel! You will need standard power tools to build an Arched Cabin, plus a crane or lift of some sort to erect the structure.

      We are working on getting more videos out to cover all the things. This is just meant to be a general overview. Please follow us to see all our past videos and new ones coming out. To answer a few of your questions, Arched Cabin kits include a build manual, floor plates, ribs, ridge beam, standard R22 insulation for the arched walls(R33.6 with the insulation upgrade) , metal roof paneling, rubber trim and foam inserts to use by the end caps, touch up paint, and color coordinated fasteners needed to assemble the cabin. The kit price does not include the foundation, installation, interior, end caps, delivery, or anything that is not included above. General pricing information can be found here: www.archedcabinsllc.com/cabins
