wow great video sir. thank you I'll definitely pick up copy of cobra commander tomorrow
Thank you for watching. I hope you enjoy the comic. Duke #1 is also worth a look if you haven't read it yet.
Great review and ooh awesome cobra commander.
Thanks Tevya. This was a nice surprise and very different to what I was expecting.
It’s always great when Gray finds a cool comic he likes and wants to share
Thanks Salty. Were you ever a fan of the old G.I. Joe comics or cartoon?
While it may not be my favorite Energon Universe art style, especially when compared to Daniel Warren Johnson & Tom Reilly but I will say, this style fits this comic & character. He’s crazy & unpredictable so this cartoony, frenetic, & even somewhat zany approach fits for sure. I enjoyed this & am really looking forward to where it all goes from here. Still need to read Void Rivals.
It does fit this comic, especially with the weird SF Fantasy section. We'll see how it plays out in the rest of the series.
We are gonna have to talk more. I am officially invested in the Energon Universe. Cobra Commander is another solid entry!
Yes, a very solid entry and memorable because it's so different. There was something about the weird SF/fantasy angle Williamson took that really pulled me into the story. I'm hoping for great things from the Energon Universe this year.
Looking forward to seeing how this pans out and what the crossover will be too
Me too. Check out Duke if you haven't yet, issue #2 dropd on Wednesday 31st. The first issue was excellent!
I wonder what the timeline is for the Energon universe. Cobra Commander feels like it takes place before Transformers #1. Where Duke feels like it takes place several months afterwards
Yes, they do. I hope they can keep the timelines running together and not do what the Spawn Universe is currently struggling with.
I hightly recomend watching 'G.I. Joe: The Movie' (1987) for a greater appreciation of what's happening in this story.
Thanks for the recommendation. Is it also worth watching the live action G.I. Joe movies?
@@WakizashisTeahouse Perhaps for the novelty, but the live-action films streamline, combine, and alter diffrent characters, events, and lore of the G.I. Joe mythos, while having plots generaly diffrent from the souce material.
Thought the story was great, but the art style was sub-par and didn't match the book.
Just made me think of Riley Rossmo.
It's a little bit too cartoony and childish looking, expected to see something more gritty, closer to the new ongoing GI Joe title.
Shots fired by MG!! I think it's better than Riley's work but I hear you mate. Thank goodness the artist Andrea Milana wasn't going for the Rossmo square-head and twinkly toes look.
@@WakizashisTeahouse it's not as bad as Rossmo, but it's in the same ballpark. I really expected better.
Okay! You peaked my curiosity,Gray! I’m not a big fan of GI Joe or Transformers but I really like Transformers with DWJ and Duke very kinetic art! Toy based comics but NOT childish I like a story with some meat to it! Also gotta mention Void Rivals too! Something for everyone and this is how you do a franchise!👍🎯🖖
I was never a big fan either but the Energon Universe comics are changing that. I'm enjoying Transformers, Duke and now this. Void Rivals is worth reading as well.
I had two moments with this book where I stopped reading to go "Wait what?!" in a good way, and now I cannot wait for issue 2
That BIG reveal really surprised me. I didn't want to spoil it in the review but I was dying to talk about it!
