    There is actually 8 grease fittings on the machine. Each anti scalp wheel has one. There is one on each side of deck lift, as well as one towards the back of the mower, right below engine

    Up Date on Spartan mowers, well it's coming up on 2 years. January 18, 2022 The Toro Co. has acquired Intimidator Group, based in Batesville, Ark. The Intimidator Group designs and manufactures Spartan Mowers, a professional line of zero-turn mowers. Also Spartan has a nice suspension seat but it's an $800.00 option.

    If you plan on having your equipment serviced, please take the time to pressure wash or use compressed air so the tech can actually see what may need attention.

    The keypad is what sets this brand of mower apart from the rest. No more trying to figure out why your mower doesn't start because a seat sensor is bad, the parking brake is off, the pto is on, etc. Just look at the damn keypad and see which light is red, no more paying a mechanic to figure out which switch is bad. Not to mention no one can steal the thing by getting a spare key from tractor supply shelf and drive off with your mower.

    • @IndRepair

      Very good points there! With how much it costs, and how many fail I do not prefer them but for a consumer they may be a mark in the pro section vs the con section

      @@waynespringer501 I think it is probably due to moisture, many leave theirs in the rain or they get wet when on the trailer to/from jobs. I see quite a few fail and have seen 4 fail while still under warranty. I am glad you got a good one and it is working well for you

    I looked at many new mowers. Almost all have gone to no-greaseable bearings. The PTO switch has a lifetime warranty. The key pad could be a problem if stored outside uncovered. Mine is garage kept. I did buy the Spartan after much research.

    • @IndRepair

      You are right there! Only issues I have with their warranty is the waiting you will undoubtedly meet should (when) you need it replaced. Did one for my buddy because he couldn't wait the six weeks

    The "key pad" to start the mower is marine grade. And spartan is one of the original owners of bad boy mowers. Many mowers are sealed now even scag, hustler ferris,cub cadet and toro commercial grade mowers. As of now in 2023 I've looked at each of those in the past month. Also that is a residential grade mower not commercial grade and spartan established in 2015 I believe in the same place as bad boy mowers.

    • @IndRepair
      @IndRepair  Před rokem

      Marine grade doesn't mean it will last. I have personally seen about a dozen fail and we usually don't see machines for service/repair until 3 to 4 years after being released in most cases. Just because most brands are going in one direction and many are being bought under one larger corporation does not mean that the descions they make are the right ones. Greasable bearings will always last longer

    • @justinRoo88
      @justinRoo88 Před rokem

      Thats where a warranty and a good dealer relationship comes in. 6 year old spartan in commercial not but regular maintenance and still strong. Nothing last forever. I've changed out just as many keyed ignition over the years and had exmark break down more than spartan thus far.

    • @IndRepair
      @IndRepair  Před rokem

      Warranties are great until they try to wiggle their way out of responsibility or take weeks to months for repairs so you are forced to just get it fixed outside of warranty. I have seen it many times with many brands. Everything will break eventually, yes but the big difference in this switch and the keyed switches is this one comes with almost a $300 pricetag

    • @waynespringer501
      @waynespringer501 Před 2 měsíci

      RZHD is actually the entry level commercial grade. Parker pumps are commercial pumps with 1000hr service intervals, every model under this has residential hydrogear pumps

    Great video, your incite is great. I do have one question as you stated in your video here with durability and lasting. In your experience if you were going to buy a zero turn. What would you recommend. I am a homeowner. I just have 4 acers to mow, but I am older and do not want to get beat to death. What should I put my money into if you were to suggest spending this kind of money. Thanks in advance for your advice

      The seat on this is great from the reviews I get. There have been some issues lately we have seen with belts throwing and I am not really sure why. In both cases everything is in perfect shape but the issue keeps occurring. If I were to go buy a zero turn for my property I would probably look at Ferris. The suspension is great, they are fully servicable and in my opinion they are some of the best made mowers out there in today's market

      They make a suspension seat that some models come with. I just looked at a few today and it's a very nice cadillac feeling seat.

      The problem with tapping a hole in the sealed component for a zerk is that it's sealed; you won't get grease to go where it's needed...into the bearing. You will likely blow your grease-gun trying. If I were that worried about it, there are a millions bearings and pulleys out there - match them with serviceable replacements. The biggest problem with serviceable items like bearings and pulleys is that so many knuckle-heads won't, and then comes the warranty flood. I can actually see why so many manufacturers have moved away from them. They figure the sealed stuff will last the life of the warranty, and their overhead doesn't grow due to lazy people not doing their part.

    • @IndRepair
      @IndRepair  Před 2 měsíci

      That definitely helps more than a zerk! Most people likely wouldn't grease it anyway but for the people who take care of their stuff it would help

  • @morejelloplease

    $7549 + tax. that's stepping into commercial territory price range. the hydros need to be serviceable if they aren't alrready, like zt-3100's or better yet 3400's. it should have a canister air filter on a true commercial engine, and a suspension seat for that price if you ask me. the deck is stout at 7ga on that which as you know is 3/16" some manufacturers are switching from grease zerks to sealed bearings on spindles, front casters, etc. time will tell if it's a better bearing that doesn't need grease, but i'm old school and would rather put a grease gun on it. I don't own a shop, but there is word of mouth that i'm a picky bastard when it comes to service, so some people send me their stuff to me to go thru it, tune it up, etc. to me it's fun, but i don't make a living out of it. Keep the videos coming, I also make videos looking over different stuff, and some of the fan boys will post their hatred for me, but sometimes if you're shopping for a mower, it helps to have the videos out there so you can see from the outside looking in on what the pros/cons are for the equipment available today. see ya on the next one!

    • @IndRepair
      @IndRepair  Před rokem +1

      The prices on everything have went up so much I wouldn't say it's a commercial price but it's hard to tell where prices will land. The cheapest riding mower you can get around here is $2,400 for junk and the cheapest zero is almost $5k and 42" decks. Anything around here with the ZT-3100 and up is almost 10k. Im a huge fan of suspension but the seat only suspension such as the myride system was a mistake in my opinion. I would always rather be able to grease also! Great that you help people out like that! You keep them coming also, thanks for watching ill check out your videos soon!
