Cameron Suspension Bridge. Built in 1911. The bridge was damaged by an overload of sheep in 1937, when it almost collapsed. The damage was repaired and the bridge served highway traffic until 1959. It was sold to the Four Corners Pipeline Company when the new bridge opened, and carries a natural gas pipeline. It is the oldest suspension bridge in Arizona, and one of only two of that type in the state.
Thank you so much for your history on this bridge. J
Man! I love those drone videos! Thank you. Honestly, your giving us more than we’d see if we were able to make the drive ourselves. Thank you
Hello Russ
So glad to finally meet another soul how appreciates how beautiful the desert is!! Forests are cool but deserts are magical!
Thank you my friend!
Loving this drive. 30 years ago was my last time. We would drive this way in the month of May. Cameron trading post was a regular stop. Indian fry bread tacos was a favorite. If I recall they had 6 motel rooms that one might find avaliable. Inside restaurant they had big windows over looking the start of grand canyon it seemed. The ceilings were copper clad. The trading post there was always a target rich environment for many things. Seems May was a good month back then for very large discounts. Going north on this highway was our direction to 4 corners and all the wonderful places to see. The cliff dwellings and then Durango. Durango has that historic train ride north along large hills and cliffs. One needs to go at least once. It used to be the only way to go back then. If you had a chance to do that drive at night we would stop and gaze into the night skies and once we were able to enjoy a comet. I really want to thank you for letting me ride shotgun again with you into an area of my past. As with everywhere, things have really developed and grown so much. That bridge was the only way to get to the other side, now a big and powerful cement bridge will carry the load for the next 100 years. Monument valley was a nice place for lunch and just ponder.
Your the Man Russ 👍👀

Hi from Italy. Thank ‘u for these videos. This my favourite country and it seems to be here
I need to get me a little plastic steering wheel and really pretend I am driving your RV as we visit all the sites.
Why, Russ is doing the driving. Sit back and relax.
@@knife-wieldingspidergod5059 I was supposed to go out in the same area that Russ is at but something came up so I can't for a while so I am happy to ride with Russ
Oh my gosh Russ! That was a beautiful ride! What breath taking views! Colors, mountains, blue skies! Thank you so much! Yay see you soon. Be safe.
We were so taken aback at the unexpected beauty of the arid, rocky landscapes covered by so little vegetation contrasted with a jewel tone blue sky. What lovely country! Thanks Russ! 😀
Russ your appreciation of the beauty of the desert is contagious. Thanks for yet another gorgeous video! Can’t wait for more!
Hi Russ !! Where you sleeping tonight ? Any Elk's Lodges coming up ? Nice Video ! Stay Happy and Safe !! Talk Soon !
Wow, that was some awesome scenery today! We are really enjoying seeing some different sights from everyone else’s travel videos 😃👍
Oh my goodness this is just stunning. Thank you for taking us along on this adventure. Stay safe. Wishing you a super week. Hugs Susan
Hi Russ. Great video. I've been a daily viewer for several months now and really enjoy watching. I know it probably takes a lot of work to produce your videos but I wish they were about twice as long. Always disappointed when they're over. Enjoy the journey. 👍😁🚐
This is just jaw dropping! Your videos are just SPECTACULAR! You are a professional! NO ONE has an eye for a camera view that is amazing like you do! I’m going to watch this over and over! Thanks! So Much!
I like those burritos at speedys at Cameron
One of our fave spiritual places, can't wait for the world to heal so that we can come back and visit. When it reopens, you will love the view from Desert View, accessed from the Grand Canyon east entrance. "The Watchtower" is a beautiful building, full of history and a fantastic view of the canyon; truly grand! Page-can't wait to revisit through your travels, we're so grateful to you. Stay safe Russ 😷🇦🇺💕
Good afternoon Russ, Who was that masked man back there...he he. Now somewhere along HWY89 before Page AZ is where the highway was covered by a land slide several years ago, remember? There is quite a few places to see around Page and Lake Powell like Glen Canyon Dam hope you have time to get us a view of some of them. Wahweap area has an RV park and a great view of the water, maybe you can stay there tonight. Can't wait to see what you show us next. See You Soon!
"Arizona?" "That's all sand and loco weeds." I don't think so! :-)
Russ. I would love to see a trip to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Too bad it isn't possible right now. Oh well, that's the way it goes right about now. Thanks for the ride!
That is some of the most spectacular scenery ever! WOW! Love it!!!
Russ, love the ride. Great agenda for the trip. You are too cool!
Awesome Russ! Thank you for this beautiful tour. I haven't driven this since 1998. J
🙋♀️Amazing how they carved out the road through here. The beginning of the Grand Canyon is beautiful too! Thank you Russ, stay safe, stay cool!👍
Nice! I drove from Vegas to Zion NP then to the North Rim for a stay in June 2018. Truly a spectacular drive...actually mind-blowing for an east coast girl!!
My last day there, I drove from North Rim on 89A to the Navajo Bridge that crosses the Colorado River. It was 73° when I left the Rim. About 45 min later and 4000'- 5000' descent, it was 99° at the bridge. The southern Utah/northern Arizona landscape is insanely mesmerizing!! Thanks for a view of a route I hope to take one day.
wow, each video the views you show are better and better. Thank you so much!
Been as far with you as the 89a... I didn't go to Page... So that's new territory for me... Loved living in AZ! Miss it very much, but the roads are much improved since I was there... 2000-2002... 18 months of pure happiness!
Russ this is great! We're coming west on 70 and may make a right turn on 89 rather than 15! Maybe we'll see you. Safe travels!
Hey Russ!!..Beautiful colors!! "Watch that "MASKED" Bandit" holding the camera!!
We are so blessed to live in such a beautiful and diverse country. Thank you again Russ.🇺🇸
Russ... We went to the North Rim on the 4th. Visitors Center and campground were closed but the park was open. Stayed in our Sprinter near Crazy Jug Campground Right on the edge of the Grand Canyon. 1 1/2 hours national forest roads.
Thank you that was a wonderful ride. 👍👀🚐 RVerTV.
Beautiful scenery. I've traveled to Arizona a half dozen times, have seen Four Corners, Petrified Forest and the Grand Canyon National Park area .... walked the south rim trail back from the western-most stop of the tour bus to the visitor's center. Color in photographs is much deeper and interesting than can be seen with the naked eye. I took lots of pictures that day. Flagstaff to Phoenix leg of my journeys has always been in snow, no matter what time of year I went to Phoenix. I think your pullover view in this video was technically at the end of the Grand Canyon, not the beginning, for those not familiar with geography in the area. You were driving north, and of course the Colorado runs southerly. Thanks for all the videos.
I drove this exact route a couple years ago on our way to Monument Valley. What a great area.
Looks like the North Rim is open. Campgrounds at the North Rim are closed, but the lodge seems to be open. This is from the NPS site.
hi russ we were in the us in march we got to visit La las vegas grand canyon and florida we had to cut our trip short due to the pandemic and return to australia but after watching rvertv we cant wait to return and visit some of the amazing places you have showed us thanks mate
13:25 Those are all up and down the highways on the reservation. I've bought indian fry bread at one of those, I wish I had bought more...it was that good.
Beautiful country with colored mountains and and north rim GC!🇺🇸😀🚙
That was a raven sitting on that pickup! There are California condors around here too, really big birds. Thanks for the tour, brings back memories from years ago when I did the same.
It looked like it was closed but stopping at the Cameron Trading Post is well worth while. The restaurant has some great authentic Navajo food including Navajo tacos and Navajo bread. The jewelry shop is a great place to purchase authentic Native Jewelry and Native American souvenirs at reasonable prices.
Thanks for the ride.I'm glad you were driving and not me. Wow! Excellent! Thanks!
Hi Russ new to the channel thanks for the virtual vacation haven't been out in Arizona in years living in northeast PA
Virtual vacation lol love that thank you
That round about was surprising , being on a highway.
That was a stunner!!
Good afternoon Russ you're getting closer to Northeast Arizona, really enjoying the trip, wish I could travel like you, I miss traveling, now the reservation is on lockdown every weekend, but for a few minutes you let us see the world out there thank you, safe travels
This is amazing... My dream road.. Waiting for Horseshoe bend..
Lots of wishes from India.. Safe travels...
The areal was grand. That is a beautiful spot to breathe.
Great video Russ .This is a very good route to take instead of going to lost Wages NV. Keep them coming .See Ya .👍👍😊😊👏😍❤
Beautiful, I am awestruck. Thanks for the drone shot, too. What a joy.
i remember taking that route. Back in 1999, on a bus to Page. To go to the Glen Canyon Dam, for a Colorado River boat trip into the Grand Canyon. HOT !! But nice trip over all.
On the way back. the driver of the bus, didn't have the AC on. Some of the passengers started to whine. He told them that, "If he ran the AC, there was a chance the bus would over heat". They won. The AC went on. AND the bus overheated. Stranding us in the middle of the desert for 3 hrs. while the bus cooled off. That was miserable.
I also remember. Stopping at that Welcome Center, by that Cameron Bridge. The Native Americans selling their beautiful blankets and jewelry outside. And the dozen or so German bikers, all dressed in their black leathers on their Harleys. What a trip.
The Gap, Arizona. Trading Post where my grandmother traded her Navajo rugs. The cliffs you saw from the drone view, is called "Echo Cliffs". In Navajo, the "Gap" is called Tsin Naabaas Habitiin, a wagon trail that went all the way down to Marble Canyon and into Utah. Traders used that route long ago on wagons. This is cool my home town.
Too cool , for school ! ! !
Great road trip video. Thanks Russ. Nice mask !!
Thank you. Beautiful travelogue.
here still riding
The best yet Russ.
I really enjoy your videos Russ!😊
I hope you do a tour of the Glen Canyon Dam. Way back in 1993, I did a self-guided tour INSIDE the dam. If I remember correctly, you follow the yellow arrows down inside after getting out of a lift. And then follow the blue arrows back out. You can go right down to the massive generators and even see one of them close up through a thick glass window. You can even go outside the dam face at the bottom. Interestingly, you are warned that if you have a heart pacer device in you, don't go near the generators as it's dangerous. The electro-magnetism all around you can interfere with it.
Impressive. Thank you.
THANKS
The view from the drone - right before The Gap - was really neat! Enjoyed the rocky terrain and the lookout stop. Stay safe and happy trails Russ ⭐⭐⭐
Thanks so much!
Splendid journey, thanks Russ !!
Nice road trip
Hey Russ.. several years ago camped at Jacobs Lake..just outside of the Grand Canyon. That drive North towards Page is one of the prettiest in my opinion 👍😁😎
Great scenery carry on my wayward friend.
About that camera you tried using for a shot gun view, have you thought about aiming it out the side passenger window instead of the front window on the passenger side?
Howdy Russ 👍
A minor point, what you saw across from the view point is the Vermilion Cliffs and the crack in the ground is Marble Canyon. Many of the rafting trips through the Grand Canyon enter the Colorado River there. You have to go up onto the Kaibab Plateau to get to the North Rim.
Lee's Ferry...?
It's funny how you never think of the desert as being in the thousands of feet above sea level.
Great ride! Enjoyed it. Be safe!
My mom was born in El Ray Arizona
SPECTACULAR!!! Thanks, Russ. I LOVE your channel!
Thanks for sharing your videos. They are relaxing and awesome.
Lee's Ferry is the "Official" start of the Grand Canyon . It's just a little ways down stream from The Glen Canyon Dam . Hell of a road getting there. There are huge boulders all around , very cool . Speaking of cool , jump in the water at Lee's Ferry . You won't stay in very long because your legs will go numb . Great way to cool off though . Enjoy !
2:41 reserved parking for hot stuff.
I loved this video! I was to be in Page last week for a couple days, but it fell through. So this was a treat!!! I subscribed and I hit that bell!
EXCELLENT....WILL DEFINITELY TRAVEL 89 SOON....
Hey Russ this was awesome!! We lived in AZ a long time but never got to this part of the state - so glad to finally see it thanks to RVer TV!! It's somewhere we definitely want to explore when we start travelling. Wondering if you can turn that shotgun cam to point out passenger side or is the door blocking the view? Take care out there, (like the mask). Mike & Brenda | Hondo, TX
Liking your camera action !!!!
Absolutely gorgeous
Great ride along Russ, I like it
If you really want to see gorgeous mountains travel to Washington State and travel the North Cascade Highway. It stop and See Grand Coulee Dam on the mighty Columbia River. Largest Hydroelectric Power Plant in North America then head over towards Wenatchee (Apple Capital of the world) travel towards Lake Chelan then onto the Bavarian Village of Leavenworth which is an absolutely such a fun place to explore. Then head up to the North Cascade Highway. It’s breathtaking. Some people who have been to the Swiss Alps say it reminds them of the Alps.
Gorgeous
When I see Russ Taking Pictures Of His Van.......I have the same feeling watching The Columbia Landing At Edwards A.F.B.
I Really Hope Some Day To Visit Russ And His Van....Just To Take Walk Around It And Say To Myself It Is The real Deal.....
I was there about a month earlier when the fire was going on 89 was closed definitely didn't have any drone shots either
Ah yes...... another free ride and having a martini while riding shotgun.........
Yes, another martini with TWO olives this time please.
Couple years back they had landslide on n highway 89 and they made another highway n 21.
Suggestion: at the end of your videos you could jump to hyper speed and blur out before you run your logo. 🤔. It just seems natural
Hey Russ!😁👍
Across the parking lot from the main trading post in Cameron there is a couple more small shops. One of them sells some unbelievable items. Don't ever take children in this shop! There were genuine Navajo items/artifacts for sale that were tens of thousands of dollars. These items were just sitting out on the shelves! One was behind glass; it was $120k. That was 15yrs ago.
Hi Russ, Alec here, a Scotsman in the UK, love travelling with you on yer trips but I never saw a roundabout in the U.S until just now on this vid. Are they common across your nation?
Yes, there are more roundabout in the newly developed areas in the Midwest of U.S.
HI, Russ, how about using a camera with a zoom feature for shotgun cam so you can adjust the field of view?
Wish I knew how to read those rock layers.
I noticed that you forgot to say "yay" in the beginning of your driving.
I hope you spent some money in Gap, the right thing to do.
A geologist's dream!
have you been to BLue Canyon, AZ? The Hopi reservation..
Missed a trick not taking a quick detour down 89a to Marble Canyon.
Least Mountain Mike’s pizza could get the rep known as Sylvester the cat go find a good vista spot set up stoneware cook own pizza...
I’ve been thinking about how to make peace happen
How long does it take to drive the 89 from Flagstaff to Salt Lake City?
