    Here i install an RS7 flat bottom, dsg paddle shifter steering wheel into my audi a3, the install process is super simple so don't let it intimate you, if I can do it i believe anyone can do it. You just need a few simple hand tools. The best part of the my new steering wheel is once installed everything including the paddles work and no coding etc is needed.

      They push in towards the middle, if you have a good quality screwdriver with a sharp edge that'll do better for grabbing it then something that's rounded.
      Once you get the first one the second one is super easy, it also helps to pull a little on the airbag while you're pushing it down that way when it's out it's out

    Hey Chris, great video! Quick question! At 5:14, Is the alignment mark, on the steering wheel, and the alignment mark on the steering wheel shaft the ONLY way you know that you have the wheel on straight? Are there any other markers that can also be an indicator that the wheel is on straight like, for example, the clock-spring sticking through the two holes?
    I'm asking because I purchased a carbon fiber steering wheel from ECS and the wheel I have does not have a marker on the steering wheel itself. I emailed ECS on Friday and no response yet so I wanted to ask you while I also wait on them.

    • @96ej
      @96ej  Před 6 měsíci

      That's interesting that it doesn't have a mark, all the OEM wheels I've ever seen have marks, they might be using an aftermarket core to build the steering wheel. Yes lining it up with the clock spring is one indicator that should get you 95% the way there.
      DISCLAIMER: don't girl getting yourself or anyone else hurt
      What I would do in your case is put the new steering wheel where you think is straight, bolt it down, and go for a test drive. Assuming your car has a good alignment this is the only other way I know to get it set straight.
      Good luck dude

      @@96ej Yeah, I thought it was weird, too, how the ECS carbon fiber wheel didn't come with the alignment mark.
      I'll wait to see what they say before I tear down my existing wheel. I was just hoping there was another sure-way to know if the wheel was on correctly or not in the meantime lol
      Thanks so much for responding

    • @KillerZero259
      @KillerZero259 Před 5 měsíci

      Hey Chris, just wanted to give you a update: ECS apparently does not sell anymore CF wheels with the alignment mark so I used my existing wheel along with the clock-spring holes to align it correctly, and that method worked, thankfully. Not sure if you mention this in your video, or if I missed it, but my air-bag light came on and only way I was able to get rid of it was using OBDEleven and cleared it out manually.

      If it's from the same vintage it'll be the same. Also for what it's worth that's actually an A3 airbag on an RS7 steering wheel, it's basically the same thing as a S3 steering wheel but the leather is fully perforated and it has the taller paddles

      Since I haven't done it I can't say with 100% positivity. But since I'm guessing you have a Z8 and it's of the same vintage you should be able to do the exact same thing that I did. If for whatever reason it doesn't work you'll just need to go into vcds and enable paddles. I think there are videos out there of people doing it on q5s and it works perfectly so I wouldn't think that your car would be any different especially since it was a factory upgrade
