29:57 There is a scene where he drops the boys off at their hostel. One of their friends asks Bibi, Who is Ranga? and Bibi replies, 'He is a brother.' Ranga hears this, and in the next scene, he sends Instagram reels directly to Bibi.

To answer your question why Ranga gravitated to Bibi. Well the scene Bibi tells his roommates Ranga is his brother. That's when he feels Bibi really loves him like a brother. The other was Bibis mom connection which Ranga misses in his life. These 2 things makes him love Bibi like his own and he feels betrayed most.

It wasn't his real brother, As Amban said in the beginning Ranga was a single child. The owner of the juice shop was the man he killed. He was like a big brother to Ranga cuz he got him his first job. He doesn't kill the two hindi boys either. Ranga was constantly losing people who he cared about in his life. First, it was his mother who left him after realizing that her son was turning into a gangster. Second, it was the owner of the juice shop (who Ranga thought of as a brother) who made Ranga put all his money in the stock market. Luckily, Ranga made a huge profit and then the owner of the juice shop made Ranga buy a lot of land in the middle of nowhere and out of greed he was forcing Ranga to give that land to him after he heard that the Bangalore International Airport is going to be constructed there. He hired goons to finish off Ranga. (one of the goons Amban pointed to during the outdoor dinner scene). Ranga after realizing that the man who he thought of as a brother was only interested in his money and was ready to kill Ranga for the land, kills him. Ranga was just secretly looking for real friends and relationships. He doesn't have real friends cuz all the men he knows are goons. He doesn't know women cuz the only females in his life are prostitutes. That's why he brings two workers for the boys thinking that that's what the boys want. Ranga was only looking for real relationships in a very unconventional Ranga way.

His brother definetly the one who wanted to kill ranga. So basically on ranga's part it was entirely self defence. This all the more makes his life tragic because his brother literally ruined him. Took ranga's college money so he doesn't have a future and even wanted to take his life for financial gain.

Ranga had cried everytime he cut a relationship which he really cared about. First when he chose his path as a gangster and let his mother go, second when he had to kill his brother because the brother was trying to eliminate him to get his money and lastly when he was about to let the kids cut ties with his gang. All of them meant so much to him but he was willing to let go of them.

Ranga initially supported these 3 kids because in the flashback story he also raised money for going to college which was destroyed by his brother. He enjoyed everything related to college as he was fulfilling his dream through the 3 guys.

    • @peekaboo5905
      @peekaboo5905 Před 4 dny +1

That's why he initially didn't want them to join in fights and just study.. but when they demanded he couldn't help but fulfill. I think his way of showing love is thru spoiling them. And if bibi had taken a stand and calmly told him everything it wouldn't have ended this way.
It does show a glimpse of typical male expectations of not showing proper emotions yet expecting to be understood leading to ranga not properly conveying his affection and bibi not understanding him as well.

Ranga had to leave his mother and move to a different state to work for his cousin.
Different culture, different language, we all Indians go through homesickness, when we move to a different state for work or college.
He has a soft spot for his mother, brother and his guru(Reddy), but all of them betrayed him.
He wears white and gold, to honour his Guru (Reddy),
and when he looses that respect for his Guru he switches to black and silver.
In the bar, when he sees those boys, speaking the same language, in a different city, he saw himself in them
and wanted to be the elder brother to them.
He has got money and success but has no family. And cannot connect with anyone.
By providing, what ever the boys wanted alcohol, cigarettes, bikes, guns, dances and fights
he thought he was making them happy, and satisfying his need for friendship. Yet they betrayed him.
Only after talking to Bibi's mother he realises that, they are just college kids.
He was stone cold to his mother, and she died before he can reconcile with her,
had to brutally murder his cousin and his Guru.
He did not want to do those things but he had too.
But now, he can let go and forgive those boys.

  • @mohamedhussain7628

Ranga was neaver going to kill the boys. He didn't even kill the Hindi guys (the Karate brothers). If you play close attention at 22:36 and 26:05, the Karate brothers were standing near Nanjappa. One time is when Ranga was killing Reddy and then Ranga's gang came, if you pay attention, Nanjappa was coming last and behind them were the Karate brothers. And the second time is when Ranga came out the house after having a mental turmoil inside the house, when he came near Nanjappa and he wiped his eyes, the Karate brothers were again standing near Nanjappa. From this it can be interpreted as Ranga was never actually going to kill the 3 boys. And I'm doubtful if he even killed Reddy, because even after hearing the stabbing sound like 5 times, we can still hear Reddy's voice saying "Hey...hey". It was not in the subtitles but his voice was heard. So we don't know if he was even dead. Originally Reddy was the one wearing all white and gold jewels, it can be seen when they are saying his stories and showing us the flashback of him. And when Ranga quit his gang, Ranga just took Reddy's style and then he became very big. And people just took it as Ranga's style and that pissed Reddy off. In the cljmax where Reddy was asking for his identity back. Ranga said that he would give it and then changed to all black and silver. Even when Ranga was met with his brother, i think he killed because his brother was holding a knife and he would definitely kill Ranga for the land. Ranga was faching the wall and we would see kater that ge was crying and he didn't want to kill him but was holding the machete to check his brother's intention and when he took the knife to kill Ranga and that's when Ranga killed him. Or as you guys said, it could just he that he set ut up as he killed him but didn't. That's what i love about this movie, so many things can be interpreted as many ways and that's why they were left intentionally niy straightforward and then the viewers could interpret as they want. Even during the beginning where he sent reels to the biys it inky had like 10 something likes, and after the climax in the reel the end, it had 100 something likes. I live that they didn't go overboard with like 1000 likes when he said in the house that nobody even like his Instagram. They kept it real with just 100 likes.

When the boys ran away from ranga and hidden in their friends hostel, tyey start feeling a belongingness there and found peace and relief there. There small bullying turned a revenge seeking after seeking of revenge tge purpose fulfilled but they all drowning in dark ignorance of becoming a gangsters. They craved for being feared by others but after they got the fear from their peers it turned unbearable for them. Ranga is a catalyst for the boys maturity.

The cane in the hands of Amban and the team at the end is used all across India by teachers to beat elementary and high school kids when they do something wrong. It was common in Kerala till a court ruled against physically punishing students some 5 or 7 years back. I think at many other places in India it is still in practise. The point is that, people mostly consider it to be the 'beating of caring', or a teacher's or parent's action to not let the kids spoil themselves.

I enjoyed watching your reactions to this movie. Miguel's reaction is so on point because this movie makes you feel so conflicted about Ranga. You feel bad for a person who is clearly a shady character. It was such an enjoyable experience, and your reactions to it is like a cherry on top.
By the way, if you are interested in malayalam cinema, i would recommend a couple more movies.
    - Na than case kodu(there is a reason this is on top of my list)
    - Sudani from nigeria
    - Premam
    - Om shanti oshana
    - Minnal Murali
    - Some old classic movies of mohanlal and sreenivasan.
    - Also just watch any fahad fasil movies. They are all amazing.
Trust me you will not regret watching any of these.
