BYC commission, composed by Pulitzer Prize winner Caroline Shaw. Performed December 14, 2013 Walt Whitman Theater at Brooklyn College Megan Berson - Viola www.byca.org
This is an amazing work of music. Even some of Beethoven's works have portions which are conventionalized and uninteresting. Every single section of this work however, is lush with musical interest. From the polymetric minimalism of the first section, to that "muttering" like section, all were done so with great taste.
Brilliant of the BYC to commission this from Caroline Shaw. Such a rich, inventive piece of music, and the BYC are simply wonderful with such a challenging work--nearly 50 high school kids and a conductor, who really should be named, making music at such a high level.
Beyoncé brought me here

For me, Caroline Shaw can do no wrong. This a wonderful example of her work.

Stunning composition and performers--beautiful combinations of colors, rhythms, surprises that fit together so well.
This is such a brilliant piece and so brilliantly performed

Reminds me somewhat about the equally underrated Iva Bittova, just on a different level.. Great stuff obviously!!!
This is why I drink!
Does anyone know what the last line is? "My days are . . . "
My..days…your…years. It’s hard to hear with the layering, I had to look at the score.
4:52 those nana tremolos are her trademark, right?
what the hell yall talkin bout beyoncé for?? context please
i'm just here because it's a bomb choral piece
Who didn’t like this? Those folks are sad.
THe folks from the Staten Island Youth Chorus
They sound great but their so dead faced in every perfomance I noticed. They need coaching on better stage presence.
