Hi there, I'm from a town in Ireland called Macroom (Maigh Chromtha) which was named after the God Crom, which here means crooked oak, our towns square once had a large Oak tree at its centre and is believed to be the worship place of Crom and also where sacrafices happened. Now in it's place is a Sun dial.
Recently the body of a Neolithic girl was found during an archaeological dig, she was cremated using Oak from a local river, where she was found is not a burial ground and so it is possible that she was a sacrafice to Crom!

I find that fascinating! I was just reading about Macroom and wondered what it is like now.

@@ChristianFontaineBraden it is not commonly spoken about in the town, I did a lot of research to nake the connections, but very very interesting link back to a Pagan God. Unfortunately it's history we'll never know more about, but the archaeological dig was an interesting link.

@@cloherlihy619 the only information I can find on Crom Cruach is mostly verbal folklore. I did read about one of his idols or statues being found in a bog in Gortnacrannagh last year iirc, fascinating! Makes me wonder how much verbal history we've lost.

Can't not find celtic lore fascinating they got badass dieties both darkside and lightside and smoothly segway all of european lore, have adaptations of thier own of other mythos mystical beings with thier own tales, or incorporate neighboring cultures lore without stealing it or a bastardized rendition or cultural crossovers/native celtic interpretations of the same types of entities and stories without high deviation
    Gotta love it you guys!
