I actually went to Oonuki Camera last month, the one shown in your video. It’s an amazing store! The staffs are so polite and professional. Bought a 5cm f1.4 lens for my Nikon S2 there for like 1/4 of the price sold anywhere else, in a very good condition too.

This excites me. I’d never considered second hand stores in Japan. I’ll be there very soon and will now be keeping an eye out for old Pentax lenses!

@@pushingfilmI found this wonderful shop in the Shinjuku area called Classic Camera Moritz. I picked up a flawless Pentax SMC 50mm 1.4 - with DEMO etched in the side. It cost me just 15,000 yen - not even $150 AUD.
It’s definitely worth a trip in. The owner is very helpful and a wonderful person.
There was a great selection of Rollieflex options and large format lenses too.

The Nikomat would good to see. Changing the light seals would be good then shot a roll in it and pov

After checking that currency conversion, yup, I'd pay $13 US for that Nikomat EL, with or without lens. Its only disadvantage is that being a camera which was made only to add auto-exposure to the existing Nikkormat FT2, it is dependent on meter coupling to pre-AI lenses or post-AI which have the "rabbit ears" coupler. The shutter was a new design from Copal, but it proved to be a robust winner. If you like to scrounge in dark corners for deals on nice old cameras, this side trip would make your day.

The battery compartment is pretty sneaky in the EL had to google to find it. Unless I’m getting confused it’s behind the mirror and the camera only fires at 1/125 without it.

Yep, it's a sneaky one! I think I've seen other cameras have it there too

Hello, Hashem! I noticed that you have a lot of Nikkor lenses. It seems that you also put at least one of them on a digital camera, at least on Nikon Zf. Did you happen to notice if your manual lens was focusing beyond infinity? I recently used Nikon manual ai-s optics on my d610 and found that all 4 of my ai-s lenses are slightly focused past infinity (focus confirmation sensors say that everything is OK, but in live view mode I can see that this is not quite true). I'm interested to know if this is the case with all old nikkor lenses, I wonder what the reason is: over time, does the focus of all lenses go astray or is it like that because of some reason, or simply because of not such high standards of adjustment accuracy at that time…

Nikomat EL would be a good one to restore first

Went to a second hand camera store (Mini Mini) in Shinjuku last week Hahsem. I found an AF Micro Nikorr 105mm f2.8 D for the equivalent of AU$188 in immaculate condition - I mean mint out of the box! The guy behind the counter watched me suspiciously when I mounted the lens to My D5200 digital, then he told me in no uncertain terms that it was "manual focus" only...
I imagine he was a little surprised when the gaijin told him it was for use on an F75 and that I would take it. When I got it home the "risk" was well worth it - the lens works flawlessly and the auto focus is smooth and fast as any of my more modern AF Nikon lenses. Even climbing those four flights of narrow stairs to find the place was well worth it :)
