Women in the background giving a load of bad information to the tourists. The band always come out first at that location. She said you can tell it's a captain because he's carrying a sword. Looked more like a RAF Flight Lieutenant to me.

Correct, he is a Flight Lieutenant, when based here at St James Palace, Buckingham Palace, Tower of London or Windsor Castle, the officer irrespective of rank will be known as the Captain of the Guard

      Beards have always been permitted.
It was just depending on circumstances.

      Yes they were.
Did you never encounter anyone wearing a beard for medical or religious reasons?
Or deploy to Afghanistan in the early days when we all grew beards to 'blend in' with local culture?

As non military and a lifelong “beardy”, as long as they are neat/tidy/appropriate for trade, I think fair enough. Each to his own🤔. Very smart drill by the RAF Reg. Band spot on as ever👍👍
