Can the MPC X Special Edition Pump Hard 👊 like the MPC 3000?

  • I made a beat 🥁 on the MPC X Special Edition.
    It have a MPC 3000 PLUGIN so lets try a ON & OFF listen 👂
    All parts are played 🎹 by me, piano, bass, guitar and drums. No samples used other than the vocal sample chop. Also no processing used only the MPC 3000 plug-in 🔌 and I used the plugin on the “main output” only‼️
    Let me know in the comments what you think!

    I think this is hitting nice and hard. I personally think a lot has to do with the quality of the sample and the time put in learning and using the instrument. I like all of the standalone MPCs. I personally think they all have an application. The MPC X and X SE just happen to work and sound great in the right hands. And you did this right!

      You are right. I don’t know why we are arguing which MPC sounds better than the next. Let learn our crafts and make great music. The listen won’t ask which MPC you used. Great music wins not the gear.

      @@Dentis306 I am so happy to see someone else saying this. I mean as a artist of course I love knowing the gear that someone else is using. However the common person will never care about vintage gear. In fact many younger listeners are looking for that new sound. Personally I think it is much easier, more efficient and just sounds spot on with the newer MPCs. It is definitely better for me than in a DAW. I think I take more risks and try new things more often with my MPC X SE or MPC ONE.

      @@VinylWave11 great music does win, but listening to it in a club next to other music and being self critical is when you find that although the idea works and sounds good, it may bug you that the sound isn't 💯. Well it did with me for years. I couldn't figure out what it really was, and put it down to me being too self critical. At the time I was using Reason so I put it down to that. If you are just making music for yourself then it doesn't really matter, but if you are making music to play in clubs on big systems then you will want it to sound premium next to other tracks that sound full in the clubs. Once you have experienced it and are honestly self critical you will understand what I'm on about. With certain genres you won't need the full sound so much and the clean sharp sound works wonders, but with others that full sound is needed to really stand up next to other selection. So just like guitarists have many guitars, beat makers should have many different beat machines to suit the purpose and not kid themselves that their one does everything great.

    • @VinylWave11
      @VinylWave11 Před rokem +1

      @@RoomAtTheTopStudio agreed that is why I do have other samplers and drum machines and of course Push 2 and Abelton Live Studio. It is cool that you mentioned guitars cause piano and electric and acoustic guitars and analog peddles is where I started off in music. I totally agree once a song is well mastered it should probably have a club mix version the pumps hard in de club. I have a degree in fine art so I am very versed in self critique and sitting in during weekly group critique reviews. It is a really good idea to have a group of other musicians that you trust and will listen to about the cons and the pros on your music. I tend to be over critical of my own work and tend to take a while before releases often needing a shove to let it go out

    Love the beat bro 🔥🔥🔥 you can make that MPC bang a little more with the MPC 60 vintage engine mode (the 3000 mode is a little weak IMO). Also if you have a mixer lying around, try using the EQ on that mixer before recording to your audio interface. Keep the track count to a minimal to preserve MPC headroom, as these newer MPC machines sound better when there is less tracks, which means less overload in the output stage. ✌🏽

      If Your Getting Less Headroom Due To Too Many Tracks, Then Most Likely You're Not Using The BUSS Method Properly... Buss Your Instruments, Buss Your Kicks Separately From Your 808's and Of Course If You Have Vocals, Have All Vocals Sent To A BUSS Track As Well, and Or Use Mid-Side Compression/Eq-ing As Well... If You Using More Than 20 Tracks, Then You Should Be Bouncing Wav File Into A DAW Then Process As Needed.

    • @wurlinnawurl
      @wurlinnawurl Před rokem +2

      Great advice!! Bussing is so important. Also remember all the outputs are there for a reason, use them!! Easy way to get extra headroom and separation. Run your 808 on is own output and run it through it's own outboard. Even small stuff can make a huge difference. The new mpc's sound fire though, IMHO

      @@LaidbackSounds I've Heard The Test Comparisons And Understand That Point, But You Should Also Understand That DESIGN And FUNCTIONALITY Are Also Just As Important If Not More. AKAI Has Made A Better Product Overall In My Opinion Because NUMBERS DON'T LIE, Regardless Of The So Called Young That Don't Understand. I'm Beyond 50 And Been In Studio's Worked In Studio's Know People Who Breathe STUDIO's. So Yes The Kicks Are FATTER But Those Older Machines Are Complicated As Hell, Offer Less Abilities and Are Not INSPIRING At All... So To US NEW USER'S Regardless Of AGE, The Newer MPC's MOTIVATES One To Learn The Workflow Process Which Leads To The Sound Engineering Process, Which Leads To The Gain Staging/Mixdown Process Which Leads To The Mastering Process... Then Your BEATZ Are Ready For Prime Time. With The Older Machine's The Finished Beats Were Always Sent Out To Be Mastered By A Sound Engineer Or Be Bounced Out To A DAW To Be Mastered. But Once You Learn The New MPC's Abilities, You Can Make A Professional Industry Level Track, and Then Do It Again Over And Over Again... In Other Words, The Newer Devices Offer More Than Just SOUND... Remember IT's MORE About The Lyrics And Or Flow Style That Will Make A Song... "I GAT 5 On It" Was Made With Only 4 Tracks and The Beat Ain't All That, Its SIMPLE As Fuck, YET WE ALL LOVE IT. So This Is Really About Apples And Oranges.

    You’re using a plug-in to compare the sounds? 😂 I thought you were gonna use both the machines.
    The Roger Linn Akai 3000 hits harder because of how it samples and stores. The 3000 has a sample rate of 44.1kHz (CD quality) and it stored the samples in 16-bit data format. The MPC 60 samples at 40kHz but stored samples in 12-bit. (Remember the E-mu SP-1200 samples and plays back in 12-bit?) That’s what made them hit harder. No other samplers were doing that.
