  • Unboxing of the new HeadRush FX FRFR112 MK2 or MKII Powered PA Speaker #4k #4kvideo #headrushfx #livemusic #guitar #headrush #review #comaprison
    I found the Headrush MKii to be raw and punchy, geared toward midrange guitar tones! I compared it to my Mackie SRM 212 V-Class, rated at 2000 watts versus the Headrush's 2500 Watts. I didn't feel or hear the difference in power... probably due to the differences in design towards frequency reproduction. The headrush has super clear mids any classic rock or country musician will relish and it has hard-hitting punchy bass. Though the Mackie clearly has more bass! The bass produced from the Mackie is more "quad-city-knock" loose boomy bass versus the Headrush MkII. If had to buy one I would pick the Mackie as I enjoy a heavier-sounding bass in my tone but it is by no means perfect. When I paired the 2 speakers in stereo... WOW! Nailed the tone I wanted. They perfectly balance each other in my opinion as the other excels in the areas (tone/frequencies) the other lacks. I was hoping to sell the Mackie and buy another MkII but neither speaker on it own does exactly what I want... having them both does! 100%!!!
    My main gripe on the HeadRush MK2 is no handle on top... super lame! When you crank it to 11 it pretty much goes into clip protection mode unless you dial down your input signal and then you Nowhere near the rated 2500 watts. It seems you need to keep it at 10. The Mackie never goes into clip protection and is just as loud. However, the bass on the Mackie is too loose for my taste as I like a tight hard hard-hitting bass. Both speakers are ported... I think if it was sealed it would fix it but pretty sure they port these to minimize size and cool the amplifiers down inside. The Mackie is also far heavier than the HeadRush FX FRFR 112 MKII, so the HeadRush is superior in the weight department and just as loud! Either will keep a hard-hitting Drummer in check and any horrible front-house sound guy negligible by cranking them. (I have plenty of experience to confirm this!)
    All in all, you can't go wrong. Happy with my purchase 100% Estatic they pair so well in stereo! The volume they output together is insanely awesome as the ceiling tiles in the room I tested them in vibrated to the point it looked like it was snowing white dust! Which is very, VERY Rock n' Roll!
    If you are a tube amp guy sell your stuff... get a HeadRush FX Unit of your choice and a pair of 12" Pa Speakers.... the dependable tone, less gear, less money, amp models, effects models, cab, speaker, etc. Models are a far greater asset than carting around a moody Tube Amp. The key is to push your HeadRush or any Guitar Amp Simulator through a high-powered 12" speaker. If your Bass gu use a 15" or a bunch of 10". That's how you mimic and get the tone you can feel and not just hear!

    For some reason they didn't route the Bluetooth to the output... So it doesn't go to the front of house... Or record. Kinda of a bummer and definitely a benefit the Mackie has if that is something you require.

    So a venue I perform at bought some QSC k12.2 and I noticed the outside shell is pretty much identical to the headrush and the alto.

    Hi there, thanks for demo. I’m not looking for a cab replacement but for price power and size I like the HR, do you think it works for PA as well . Or it’s better to go with alto?

    • @PitDriver
      @PitDriver  Před měsícem +1

      You could definitely use it as a PA but I think you'd be happier with the alto and hopefully the Bluetooth goes off the output which it does not on the Head Rush for whatever reason 🤷🏽

      Get something with an on-board EQ because these things are boomy as hell. Or at least an EQ pedal to dial out the harsh tone.

    Does the incoming bluetooth sound go out of the XLR out, or only the guitar signal/signal in on channel 1 and/or 2?

    • @PitDriver

      Excellent question... as I found this week out it doesn't with the MKii... It does however with the Mackie.

    Is it better than the original? I got the original, and in two weeks after I got it, they announced and released the MKII. Kind of feel ripped off there. Hope it doesnt sound that much better or i did get ripped off for sure

    • @PitDriver
      @PitDriver  Před 5 měsíci +1

      I'd say the only thing you're lacking is the additional wattage other than that I kind of like the case of the old one better, as the handles are better suited for handling. They basically copied the QSC K12.2 to and added more watts... They sound the same in live mode 💯

      @Lesspaw41 Před 5 měsíci +1

      @PitDriver is the MKII less "boomy" than the original?

    • @PitDriver
      @PitDriver  Před 4 měsíci

      @Lesspaw41 it has a tight bass response punch I prefer like a sealed guitar cab versus the boomy ported /open back cab bass response of the Mackie. Plus engaging the high pass filter drops out much of the bass, leaving just the mids and highs if that's the tone you prefer. Of course if you have a HeadRush pedal you always add an EQ to your rig chain to dial in your perfect tone.
