  • Is modern science a search for truth or a search for power? How can we restore public trust in the scientific enterprise? On this ID The Future, we're delighted to share a recent conversation between bioethicist Wesley J. Smith and philosopher of science Dr. Stephen C. Meyer. In an exchange that lasts just over an hour, Smith and Meyer touch on a variety of topics relevant to the public’s view of the scientific enterprise. This interview originally aired on the Humanize podcast.

    My power comes from my healthy skepticism of 'The science' and my trust in God.

    I’d take a bullet for Stephen Meyer, honestly, as I truly believe his name will be most associated with the fall of Darwinism, and he’s got years ahead of him.
    Your opinion may differ, that’s fine, but to me Stephen is an amazing person whose work “SitC” will be on the Mt. Rushmore of one of the greatest influences on the truth of biological complexity of all time. Love you, Brother Meyer!

    Boy don't I know how mainstream scientist try to squash anything that would point to a creation event as opposed to the storyline of evo..
    I discovered the mineralized remains of a pit viper snake that in life would have been between 35 and forty ft. long. I have a ct scan of the head and one of the large body sections of the fossil. I showed it to one of the top herpetologists in America and he was so excited about it, he was going to take me to other experts but as soon as I mentioned a creation event, he dropped me like a HOT potato. I had it up and down the East coast to many main museums with exactly the same results. They would literally rather let good evidence go by the wayside instead of taking any chance that ToE might be questioned in any way. Thanks guys for fighting the good fight. Someone needs to stand up for truth.

      Yep, and it was lethal to more than the athletes mentioned by Dr Meyer. According to professor Denis Rancourt 17 million have been killed by the "scam", - so far.

    This was really a fascinating discussion. You Tube must have had fun trying to figure out what "context" warnings to put up, lol, I think you hit a trifecta!
    I have had my doubts about the viability of evolutionary theory since I figured out the implications of thermodynamics when I was about 17 yrs old, and I'm a lot older than that now. I've watched it crack under the strain of honest inquiry and I don't think it will last much longer - but I'm afraid that what will take it's place will be even further from the truth because - lets face it - people aren't generally happy about learning that we need to learn more.
    Thanks for the talk.

    I am well aware of the fact that science is a 'work in progress'.
    That being said, presently, science:
    Can not tell us what a woman is.
    Told us that 'it' was 'safe and effective'.
    Says the world will end soon because of 'climate change'.
    And if I missed anything;
    I'll be back!(In my best Arnold imitation. Not good, just my best!😏)

    Dr. Meyer is forced to waste time evaluating stupid ideas like Darwinism just like Irenaeus was forced to waste gallons of in examining the nuances of Gnosticism.

      Non theism or atheism is a religion in and of itself and has been deemed that in US courts. It is demonstratively a false religion just as every other faith that denies the Deity of Jesus the Christ. Most of the major fields of research in the modern sciences were founded by people of faith who literally wrote the books on their various fields of inquiry.

    • @davidjoly9816
      @davidjoly9816 Před měsícem

      @chrisgreene2070 You have never observed life or a functioning machine emerge from an undirected natural process. No one has. You have proposed a hypothesis that undirected natural processes can create advanced machinery, but your tests of that hypothesis have failed to prove it. You can choose to commit to your hypothesis at all costs, but don't call it "science" at this point.
      Creating a machine requires knowledge of chemistry and physics. How do you build a cell? How do you build an animal? If an undirected natural process did it, with no knowledge of chemistry or physics whatsoever, humans should be able to do it easily. Prove your hypothesis with repeatable controlled experiments and maybe us skeptics will start considering your hypothesis.
