  • Hi, and welcome to another tutorial; I hope you get something from the video and many thanks for watching.
    In this video, I demonstrate the techniques and glue that I use to collage together four lovely abstracts. It is a simple and relaxing process allowing a mindful abandon to shapes, texture, lines and colour. I hope you enjoy it.
    There are products and paintings available to purchase on my website www.louisejannetta.co.uk/
    Other videos may help you in this process, the most relevant being the Momigami and Joomchi tutorials.

    I don’t mind if the video goes long. I like to watch as you talk out loud about your decisions about what element goes where and why. The last one was my favourite. I’m sorry we missed seeing the finished piece. From very simple to very complicated I just love to watch you work. Thanks for sharing.

    I absolutely love this video. I so enjoy watching the process of designing the collage. I do spend quite a bit of time designing and sometimes I just discard it. I am not fond of “shorts” or people leaving out part of their process. Thank you so much for this video. Your artwork is fabulous.

      You are so welcome! Thank you for watching. It’s been a good experience trying to film the process and keep the lesson interesting. It’s really helped in my own practice and makes me think harder about it all. I hope you enjoy your journey too.

    Thanks for mentioning the collection of STUFF! OMG! In the few weeks I've begun doing mixed media collage with momigami I've begun to collect materials, tools, and ideas. I find stuff and buy stuff. So far, I've got a little area to store it all in, but this can truly get out of hand! I have a friend who told me that she has a whole lot o' stuff in boxes, bags, crates, suitcases, etc in the basement work area. Kinda scary!

    When I make a collage I dryfit first as you do but before I start gluing I take a photo on my phone then it is so easy to recreate and I can look at the over unders before i glue the first piece. I haven’t tried this crinkling method before, it gives so much dimension to the piece. I will definitely try this method soon. I had never heard of it before I found your channel. Thanks so much for the inspiration.

      I also wanted to suggest that you may want to (or sorry if you have already had) a look at absorbent primers and, of course, the crackle mediums supplied in the acrylic ranges.

    You could have a scrap mount with the right size aperture. I am a framer, and I wouldn’t dream of gluing or painting anything with the clean mount in place, especially one with a fillet, like the one you have there. They are too expensive!

      Glad it was helpful! There is also a video on making card look like leather using the monigami process. I used card and then painted one side in acrylic, then folded and scrunched it up and then applied shoe polish. There is a following video showing how I then used this leather-look card to make journal covers. It is extremely effective. See the videos on How to transform card into leather using Momigami, for bookbinding, collage, mark-making & journaling. - Video link

      😀😀
      I used papers that I had made and painted. These are mainly the Momigamied papers that I have demoed in other videos. Please see the videos on Momigami and also the painted abstracts. This demonstrates the process of creating a collection of beautiful papers that I can use in collage.
      If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to ask X . Many thanks for watching, and all the best, Louise

    Where do you get frames and mattes, please?

    • @LouiseJannetta
      @LouiseJannetta  Před rokem +1

      Hi Dede. I had some old frames that I needed to use; so I did work to size. But I have recently discovered that there are some very good plastic frames available from most homeware stores. Are you in Britain?😀

    • @LouiseJannetta
      @LouiseJannetta  Před rokem

      Sorry Dede, what do you mean by Mattes

    • @LouiseJannetta
      @LouiseJannetta  Před rokem

      Do you mean the papers or substrate that I use to stick the collage on; that is 600 gsm watercolour paper that is stretched onto mdf board. There is a video on how to stretch this paper. See video- How to Stretch Watercolour Paper Video link.
      czcams.com/video/MJ2-ymi1O9o/video.html
      However, more recently, I just sprayed the paper, laid it down on the board and then fix down the gum strip. I hope this helps X

      @@dedefitzpatrick4092 oh right we call it a mount. I get most of my mounts ready cut from frame and mount suppliers. I am sure if you look at the big sales forums, eg. Amazon you will find mount suppliers.
