Your fence has a gap at the posts incorrect installation and timber sleepers at the bottom of the colourbond fence will create a water pool meaning that the whole bottom rail will last maybe the same time as the fence you were criticising mate. the new fence wasn't straight it dipped down near the front by about 20mm. however, the posts looked plumb id love to look above the fence and eye of the capping rail guaranteed it would look like a dead snake hahaha

Nice video mate and very honest.
Too many dodgy fence guys out there at the moment.
I had a similar problem with a cowboy down here in the Hunter Valley, he was running out of Paxton.
Pay the extra money and its not that much difference really in the scheme of things and get it done properly !
The sleeper on the bottome is the way to go too.

Your not that bloody good. Why don't you have a plastic cap on the posts? That's why they make them. Also what do you do on a sloping site.

Maybe the owner did it? There’s nothing wrong with having a go. I built a whole house.

It actually looks shit, having the top rail above the posts like that, it only needs to sit 5mm above, also if i was to look down that fence line im sure there will be a 10 to 20mm dip, your better off using a lazer lever for a dead straight fence, and dont use timber plinths, use concrete plinth as concrete dosnt rot.

I lifted my rails above posts on last job maybe 5mm , then I got customer looking at the gap to keep posts plumb, cant win , was maybe same as yours 8mm max

  • @australiaprisonisland9156

How do you know there wasn't an adjustment to the fence due to rust or what have you. Your presumptions might be wrong.

If a fence installer put extensions on my fence posts, he would be shown the exit door! I built two of my fences because "certified" fence installers were unethical and utter garbage. One installer only concreted the end posts and backfilled the other posts with soil! The other installer from Jim's Fencing did the exact same thing on my other fence. If I had kept the receipt from Jim's Fencing, I would have taken legal action- I rang their office but they didn't have a record of the job. Lesson learnt - when installing a fence, be at the property and watch the holes being filled with concrete to the correct depth, not with soil or too little concrete - one bag is a joke! There are a lot of shonky tradespeople out there- don't pay anything upfront until you are happy with the job. A confident and qualified trades person will not be scared to work under those terms. I know too many people who have been ripped off. ALWAYS get the person's identification details so any dispute can be resolved if legal action is required and have a detailed written contract.

Good job but they make caps for the top of the posts.
Please use ‘ground’ not ‘grinded’. Sounds like you have been on that dating app 😂
