Crag is a comedian. Comedians tend to be intelligent people. Personally I find it interesting when he teases and flirts with a beautiful actress. A good interviewer can interview pretty much anyone and make it interesting.

These determined arguments for antiquated, organised religion are really pretty hilarious. I mean, a book written (but adjusted since), in a time when we thought the Earth was flat, didn't understand electrical storms, comets etc, which has some great stories, don't get me wrong, cannot be taken as gospel (excuse the pun... and I quite like gospel music). But to skip to a new point, say we somehow haven't committed any sins, including sex before marriage and eating shrimp, and a raft of other things Christians have to believe to be consistent imo... Then is this a physical place? Heaven? Also why does God have a business deal with his arch nemesis, the devil? But it can't be physical, because we've left our body, so where is it? Another dimension... well, only theoretical physics can figure that out, not religion... (So, no Santa... well not for me this year!)
It's to detract from the horror of the realisation that we all die at some point. We just need to live with the fact that we are slowly killing the planet and making species extinct, our only hope is to sire enough generations to achieve a breakthrough in the fields of space travel and medicine that would produce a generation who could explore the universe and live for thousands of years or dare I say it they become gods. Or we all kill each other squabbling over who controls the worlds resources. Or Zombies happen. Personally i like the Zombies option

Exactly, and deism was a big part of Enlightenment also. Christianity might have taken a philosophical bent, but it's Christianity nonetheless. The way we can separate the religious from the sociological-philosophical aspect of any organized religion is based on our disbelief in the religion. We can say "Greek religion has many interesting aspects" because we examine it from the outside. To the Greeks, it is just "the way it is, and should be". The same argument goes for Christianity.

That’s not only circumcision but slavery too. And it’s not just in the Old Testament - in Ephesians 6:5-8 Paul states, “slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear”. In fact, slavery is mentioned many times in both the Old and New Testaments. Again in Colossians 3:22-24 “slaves, obey your earthy masters in everything”, in Timothy 6:1-2 “all who are under the yoke of slavery should consider their masters worthy of full respect”, in Titus 2:9-10 “teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them, and not to steal from them”. Do you want me to go on?! As for the daughters thing, he didn’t specify what he meant by this so idk.. but in Exodus 21:7-11 a man can sell his daughter into servitude when her master or his son will marry her. And in Numbers 31 Moses says the Irealites should “now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man”. Which seems pretty dodgy to me. Follow your religion, I have nothing against that. I think faith is a very personal thing, and not something to be mocked. It's all a man-made fiction for the justification of empowering one group of people over another but if you've really read the book, you'd know that scripture. I believe the more cynical translation would be "Don't over think this stuff, please or you'll expose the scam", similar to "Do not look behind the curtain" in the Wizard of Oz... Good and Evil do not exist in an elemental sense, they are only separated by perspective. Neither can be proven to be fundamentally 'true', only beneficial or not beneficial on an entirely subjective basis.
