This is going to be a hoot. The iconic "Thunderbirds" was huge, first time around in the 1960s and again for a new generation in the early 1990s. I can't help but wonder, will there be another boom-time for this delightfully quirky show? I always felt that John drew the short straw, being stuck up in space, endlessly eavesdropping

I had an annual that my parents picked up for me at a car boot sale, probably dated around 1970. I was fascinated by the stories, but obviously in that format, the puppetry wasn't apparent.
When they started re-showing it in the early 90s I initially thought it was a bit goofy. But the stories were so well written, after a while you didn't really notice you were watching puppets.

An absolutely excellent point at 33:38 ....."Science Fiction.........often has to invent futuristic looking technology by repurposing current day off the shelf items". When I watch Star Trek the original series, I notice all the 1960s bulky toggle switches, and lights on the consoles. The fact that The Thunderbirds show had to do in in miniature, is such an added challenge, and they pulled it off.

It was only many years later that I finally saw a repeat in the mid 90s when the BBC had it, I now have a Blu-ray box set, (and quite a few books, some from the 1960’s.) It was just brilliant. Very much of it’s time and I don’t know what it is that makes it so special which maybe is part of the reason it is so special. And that music, wow …

You keep asking how Jeff Tracy can afford this......Jeff the ex-Astronaut also when he retired from that, owned Tracy Aeronautics, as well as other companies. I have been watching it since the 1960's.

I only have vague memories of the show. I know it existed and know I saw it here and there. That could have been due the vagaries of syndication or possibly it was compilation "movies" aired from time to time. The puppets were weird, but it was cool and different.

There are versions of the episodes where the strings were digitally removed - I noticed that you had some clips with the strings missing.

I'd recommend watching the anime Thunderbirds: 2086. While it doesn't have the Tracy family as its main group of characters and doesn't just use Thundebirds 1 to 5 (they hit like Thunderbird 17 at some point), it does reuse a fair bit of music from the original series and some plot ideas as well (Sunburn = Sun Probe / Thunderbolt = Trapped in the Sky / Kudzilla = Attack of the Alligators and Guardian = Space 1999's Voyager's Return). IMO about half of the 24 episodes are actually any good, but I still think that I could see them working in an expanded form similar to the 60's show.
I'm actually trying to make an fan edit of some episodes to completely isolate the original dialogue + remove the original score and rework the intro to make it more in-line with the 60's version, then use a Barry Gray-only score to round it out.
