    Today we are doing a 90 day or 3 month product update and review on this video series. We are opening up the Evil Energy Universal Oil Catch Can to see what has been going on in the system for the past 90 days. We are diving under the hood on my 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis LS and checking all the connectors, hoses and clamps to see how the product is performing. Was this catch can a waste of money and time? I think not as we see how much oil has been collecting as I drive the car for 90 days. I think you will be surprised Thanks for watching.

    The drivers side line is for fresh air that goes into the engine crankcase as the PCV valve is pulling the gases/misted oil out of the engine on the other side. Don't need a Catch Can in that line. The path the fresh air flows sweeps through the inside of the engine allowing the blowby gases to escape to the Catch Can to be trapped there.
    70% of the Blowby is HC's that get seperated in the CC and run through the engine again through this PCV system. If you want to test this system next level get a Digital Manometer for 30 bucks and plug it into the Dipstick Tube. You want to see about 1-2 inHg(Mercury) on the Crankcase at hot idle. This is the best way to check anyones PCV System. If the vacuum is too low the PCV Valve is stuck closed, too high and it's stuck open.

    The port going to the intake from the driver side valve cover allows intake air to circulate into the engine. That side should be clean.

      Thanks for stopping by, appreciate the info. Where does the carbon build up come from on the throttle body and the intake plenum? Is I through that port?

      Thanks for stopping by, yes I didn’t think it might be any good but it looks like it’s doing its job collecting oil that would otherwise end up in the intake manifold!

    Get a knee bend from the hardware store to get the bend out of the hose if you are not happy with it

    I'm not sure about this but: I believe the opposite side that you did not connect is the "Cool Air" side that pulls dense cool air from, the air box to push the "Hot" blow off gasses into your catch can on the hot side. (There is that brown plastic "clicky" valve thing on the Hot passenger side that is a one directional value so the only way the flow should be able to move in an open direction is from cool to hot because it is a one way loop and due to pressure.) I have seen someone install the included tiny filter that comes with the kit into the driver cool side gasket to prevent any possible contamination and then they taped off the the hole on the air intake side of the hose. I could be completely wrong but I think you did it the right way but I guess it would be interesting to see if any oil does come out from the right side for this engine. Cool video I will do this once my PI OEM Intake manifold arrives from back order.

      @LoveWhatYouDrive  Před 10 měsíci +2

      Ok, thanks for clearing it up. I did see someone on CZcams and the only reason I would want to try on the Intake side is because while making the video I realized that the throttle body has carbon build up on it so I’m guessing it’s coming from that side? 🤷🏻‍♂️ maybe experiment one day…

    • @SkyDra9on
      @SkyDra9on Před 10 měsíci +1

      @LoveWhatYouDrive Yes, I will watch that video with interest! It would be interesting to see the result either way. If that brown plastic PVC valve doesn't do its job I could easily imagine that oil blow off might flow the wrong way just from the loop being closed and pressure building up.

    Hi . Off-topic. I just finished trying to back flush my 2000 MGM and discovered my heater core has a leak. The previous owner ran a bypass and now I don't know where to connect the outlet heater hose. Your 06 engine bay looks very similar to mine. Can you help me?

      I've been searching all day on Google to find a picture or diagram and have come up short

    • @shadowdemon13
      @shadowdemon13 Před 10 měsíci +1

      An easy way, connect a tube to the side you found. Pour some water into the core and look for the leak you'll find the other end. Usually, they are right next to each other. Are you sure you didn't find only the condensate drain?
      If you Google search "-car-heater core diagram" (or any diagram of the system your working on) you can easily find where the part is, part number, and an entire exploded view of the system.

      @@shadowdemon13 Hey thanks for your reply. When I attached 5/8 clear tubing into both intake and outlet heater core ends and rain water into outlet, nothing came out of the intake. I assumed it all leaked out of the core somewhere.

      Hey Bart so I do about 5,000 miles every 90 days which turns out to be 20,000 miles a year. But the last few months I’ve been doing a lot more driving for on or another reason so I believe around 6500-7000 miles probably this time around.
