    Carmy, while unintentional, is holding her back. In a lot of ways, she’s carrying the restaurant and Carmy both doesn’t see it or show appreciation for her efforts. He’s blinded by his own quest for greatness and as a result, he’s turning into Chef David and stunting her growth without realizing it.

      Everyone is putting in effort for the resturant. She is not "carrying it." You imply that Carmy is not succeeding under is own merit.

      @@mikeshogunlee-- No head chef succeeds by themself. Without an excellent team, the most brilliant chef will fail. If Carmy continues to emotionally break the excellent support team he has around him, he will fail.

      Are you kidding. It was Syd not Carm who wanted to get a Michelin star. Carmy told her what that would invovle. And getting the star isn’t the hard part, it’s maintaining the star that’s hard and that literally ruins restaraunts. Carmy would have succeeded either way. But Sydney wouldn’t have without Carmy

    I really don’t get the Sydney hate cuz she’s literally a human being whose allowed to have ambition. It doesn’t mean it gives an excuse to tolerate neglect and and toxic work environment. She literally carried the restaurant on her back and I won’t be surprised if it falls apart without her.

      @ericthegeneric1611 It's not a stupid comment. Go to almost any video about Sydney, and you'll see people going out of their way to express their vitriol towards her. I've had to defend her numerous times. Just because you don't see it or choose to ignore it, it doesn't mean it's not happening.

    I think Sydney is breaking down here because, up until now, she's been able to keep the anxiety at bay by just staying so busy she can't think about it. But in this episode, we see her talking to a bunch of top chefs in the industry, sees how they are well adjusted and having a good time, relaxes and lets go, and suddenly all of that anxiety hits her all at once, like a beast long stalking its prey.
    Anxiety doesn't get better the longer or faster you run. It'll always catch up, and it'll always be worse the longer you've made it wait.

    It's funny 'cause there's a scene where Carm tells his former employer/Head-Chef/Whatever that he gave him ulcers and anxiety attacks.
    Then Carm himself turns around, takes that experience and... acts like a total asshole giving someone who works in his kitchen anxiety attacks.

      Because Carmen repeated the pattern of abuse without realizing it. He put his anxiety on Sydney and she’s trauma bonded to The Bear and everyone there & up until this night she had convinced herself that she had to be like this to achieve greatness but that was disproven when she went to Ever and saw all the other great chefs that she admired and looked up to who were well adjusted and just joyful and she wants that but she’s carrying guilt over the desires to move on and leave and save herself.

    • @joannaprevost426
      @joannaprevost426 Před měsícem +70

      She seems conflicted, she needs to take the job as her own head Chef, she is more than capable . Carmy has too many isdues, she will always be his #2. But she is definitely stressed, its like breaking up with your family, that you love. We will just have to wait until season 4 . Sydney , will thrive without Carmy.

    She wanted this. Her ambitions and lack of action lead to this. Leading her partners along by not signing the contract but still getting mad when she is basically waived off because of it.

    • @buxxi90
      @buxxi90 Před měsícem +15

      Same can be said for Carmy when going to New York. Just because you expose yourself to abuse doesn't mean you're not a sympathetic character.

    • @trev9168
      @trev9168 Před měsícem +5

      @@buxxi90 not really the same. It’s one thing to go into a kitchen to learn like Carmy did. It’s another thing to demand for a higher position in a business and than when you finally are offered that position you start ducking phone calls and stringing people along. And you can’t feel mad when those people eventually start ignoring your inputs and stop trusting you. That’s how life works. She’s being incredibly unprofessional and is wasting alot of peoples time and money. Carmy is Carmy. Comparing the 2 is just dumb. Yes they both have trauma but Carmy is still giving everything he has compared to Sydney who basically has one foot out the door but still complains about how she’s being ignored.

    • @aadliafiq
      @aadliafiq Před měsícem +32

      Imo you're not paying attention while watching this show. In season 1 Sydney tells Carm that one of the reasons she stays at The Beef is because she doesn't want to be a part of that toxic kitchen environment that both of them hate, she doesn't want to work on dishes she doesn't care for and she wants to make a difference. In season 2 Carmy said he wanted to build a new and started from a place of positivity and He will treat Sydney as equal because she made him better. In Season 3 Carmy did everything she didn't want, all of her input got removed immediately, he is dragging her into that toxic kitchen that she hates because Carmy refused to confront any of his personal problems. She did not deserve to be this position and she did not sign up for this

      @@aadliafiqas someone who has been close with people high up in catering (Dad GM’d pubs, close friend owns a catering company, I was a Commi etc.), a lot of higher up “politics” involve people clamouring around a source of money and usually failing to turn that into a functional business because of abrasive personalities due to prolonged fatigue and stress. No one’s innocent, it’s just industry conditions. There’s a reason Olivia Coleman said don’t call me chef anymore: PTSD 😂😂.

      Ambition shouldn’t lead to being berated tho. Carmy said to get a star you have to be willing to give up anything & everything. He’s repeating the cycle of torment that everything has to be perfect and Syd reached her breaking point just like Carmy did with Chef David

You people, your vitriol, and your need to make Sydney a super villain for no f*cking reason has become expected, at this point. You all are highly transparent.
